Post bwah!! Yellow WRX in Boulder, meet the ITR...

I just got a phone call from Joy, I guess she just handed someone a sound beating off the line in the ITR... anyone want to admit to this?

It was me! Not!

I do want to know who it is though, so we can teach them how to race.

You mean once the ITR gets up into VTEC and really running... yeah, she was probably 1/4 mile ahead by then...

I can't imagine someone losing to a FWD car in any AWD car... it is a shameful event... I mean this was on 55th in Boulder, you can't go far.

Maybe his WRX isn't broken in yet? Or he didn't see the light change... I'm sure there's a good excuse coming.

OK, OK, it was me.

I painted my RS Turbo yellow last weekend. This was, of course, after I installed the ugly-assed chunky body and bug-eye lights. Unfortunately the 'mods' have the car up to 4200 pounds (just 150 lighter than a real WRX) so it is now falling victim to even lowly VTEC trash.

[Lets see.... Is there anyone I didn't alienate with that message.... Nope ]

[Actually the only reason I wrote it was to see what my Member Number is, cuz I have no idea what it is!]

Not I...but there is a sharp looking yellow ITR that works like 1 block from where I live in Longmont. I see the car there on weekdays.

I'm thinking of leaving a sticky note, maybe with pic or something...

Question

Don't turbo's have an advantage because of elevation????

Fishguy knows all about bad launches. I've seen him drag.

Well,

My turbo makes up for altitude. I'll take Joy on in the ITR any day

(Shhhhh, you didn't hear me say this) My favorite is going up against motorcycles. I'll never forget the day of the JCS photoshoot when I ran with the Triumph Daytona 955 from 70mph to 130mph in 4th and 5th, with several witnesses to back me up (although he trounced me from 0-60 soundly and convincingly at the first chance he had).

So, in that light, I just about kept up with a new Ninja today with dealer tags still on it (not broken in maybe). From 30mph-80mph he only got three bike lengths on me, and I held my own once I hit 4th gear and he couldn't pull away any more - then we both quit at about 100mph - and I was only at 6.5 psi on 91 octane

Apparently Kawasaki is now debadging the new bikes, so the green and black meanies can be any size and I wouldn't know which is which. I assume it was a 600 and gasping for air up here.

He and his Ducati Monster powered friend (who was soundly left behind, wheezing and not able to keep up) pulled up next to me at the next light and gave me "props" for how fast the car was. They couldn't get over it. I woulda tried higher boost if I had a bottle of 104+ in the tank and if I wasn't shifting to fast to play with the boost controller...

For the past two weeks, since they new 3" exhaust, as well as the new spark plug wire and coil-pack (that we think started to go bad in January), the car is now amazingly fast. Any rides you had in it before (january) with the little IHI compressor are faint images of what it can do now. You gotta try it, it is addictive and corruptive...

um, beating motorcycles in the turbo'd RS?

I know your car is fast...
but I'm a rider too and I'd invite you to try to catch me with me on the 2000 CBR 929 sitting in the garage.

I've ridden in turbo'd RS/OBS and modded WRX's and even my older 750 could walk away from them. there wasn't a single bike at the drags last time that was slower than 12sec, most were closer to 10 and that's pretty stock. the M750 dark was able to pull close to a 10.3 I think stock.

you got some time slips to back that up my friend?

Question

Hrmmm. Not just claiming ONE bike kill - but several...
So after the space-ship landed... Then what happened Larry?

Power to weight. (Higher number better )
HP / Power

My fat ass in a stock WRX = 0.07
Jim on a 750 = 0.12
Jim on a 929 = 0.20
Your car with 600HP = 0.19

Yeah - That's why I hate math...

I can back Larry up on beating a Triumph Daytona 955 because the bike owner followed him to JCS wondering what the hell he had under the hood. I wasn't there to witness the actual act, but I do believe it. I can't vouch for any of the others because I wasn't involved at all with those. I can tell you that he gave me a ride on the same day and that car can move!! That was with three people in the car. Since he's got his new stuff, I need a new ride. Everytime I ride in his car it makes me think about keeping my RS and turbo'ing it rather than buying a WRX or waiting for a STi if it ever comes....

well...

the ***** (edit: weenie) of a Daytona rider needs to stop being afraid of his bike and actually turn the throttle a little.

Jim,

I'll drag my WRX when I mod it, but until then it seems pointless to me. But, that's me.

BTW, I'm still faster than you...in your car that it.

I'll second Fishguy... I've raced other cars and even let them win, so I could watch the dude beat the living piss out of his car.. But it's amazing what happens when somebody actually tries.

I don't think I saw a bike at the local drag strip go slower than high 12s. The fast ones pulled low 10s and trapped at 140mph. All that speed in 1320 feet.

So, for giggles, how fast does the turbo RS do the 1/4 mile?

yeah, so there was only 1 car out of 300+ at the Drag races that was faster than the slowest motorcycle (an Ducati m750) Mind you, that:
1. The bike riders knew what they were doing
2. They were racing
3. Were close to sea level

I still don't see how it's possible for any RS-T (no matter how fast) to beat a motorcycle that's trying. With that said...
I'm waiting for some video, facts, I needs facts. :-D

Anywhere in there do you see where it says he outright beat them? I don't, except the Ducati Monster. He says he ran with them and kept up with them. His car is fast, I'm sensing jealousy... HAHA J/K

I've warned Larry I plan on taking mine apart. That's pretty much everything except the body panels and wiring. Well, maybe that right front panel, too, just to get that darn ding out of it! Planning very much psi . As in...up on jacks for a very long time.
Screw N/A in this altitude! I wanna join the broken tranny club . G

So Larry,

I will be driving from Oregon to Massachsetts in about three weeks. If I put my trip down through that area, can I get a ride in that screamer of yours? I only have a lowly WRX, but it IS yellow. No jokes about the color please, and no, that was not me that got wasted at a light. ITR's tremble at the sight of my WRX. I just haven't figured out if that is fear, or if they are laughing at the yellow color.
