Default 13 hatch - Muffler Delete

Had a random thought today.
My hatch is a lease so I'm not dumping money into it.
When ever I've had a beater and I wanted a poor man's exhaust I'd just chop the muffler off and put a straight pipe in it's place. Sounded good to me, and it was cheap.
So my question is, has anyone here just removed their factory muffler on the 12+ hatch? I realize just removing it will dump exhaust gas right under the car, and it'd be a good idea to fab some kind of turn down for it. I thought i'd just un bolt it at the flange over the top of the axle. It'd be easy to put back on that way.
But has anyone just removed it? How did it sound? Maybe post a sound clip if you have one?

It sounds a lot louder and more aggressive. It's a lease car don't mess with it, or they might end up making you pay for it if you melt the whole underbody. I had a friend who did this with another car, checked under his car a few weeks later.. **** was melting the cars under body.

There are a couple other discussions around about exhaust options and deletes. Most get a turndown made. There are a few YouTube vids with results. I tried it and found it too loud and droney for my DD.

Never had a melting underbody problem before, but I don't make it a habit to sit parked with the engine running for long periods of time. However, your point has been noted. I will fab a turn down for it if I do this.

As for loud and droney, I kinda like that. Like the noise a tattoo machine makes. It's soothing to me. To each their own.

So, I finally got around to removing the muffler today and it's actually quieter than I was expecting. It's nice to have some noise now, but it's not that bad. I could even say I'd be tempted to remove the res, but I'm not gonna go that far on a lease.
But it sounds much better now!
Just wanted to update incase someone searches.
