Default WRX Wave

I own and ride a number of motorcycles, and just about every bike you pass the riders wave at you. I have owned all manner of automobiles over the years, and never had anyone wave at me. I have had my new 2015 WRX for less than a week and every WRX or STI I pass, the driver waves at me. I did not realize there was that kind of comraderie amongst WRX drivers.

I have a question. The rubbery dashboard.....what's recommended for cleaning it? It's in the wife's new Imprezza as well, and she said its hard to clean.

I am really loving this new WRX, I cannot believe how well it corners. The power is certainly not the greatest I have experienced, but the torque and the delivery is always on tap and smooth. I have the CVT trans, and I like it. I would have liked a manual, but I felt it would be a good idea to share the fun with the wife, she cannot drive a manual. Suffice it to say, she loves this car as well.

Use a microfiber towel and some dash cleaner.

Don't use a paper towel like I did, it will leave white little pieces all over the rubbery/soft touch plastic material.

Also, if you scrub the material too hard you can permanently scuff it, so be careful.

It's definitely not everywhere. You'd get tired of waving here in Colorado where every fifth Subaru is a WRX.

Yeah, I have never received a wave here in CO. It feels like half of all cars on the road are Subaru's, and a third to a fourth of those are WRX's/STI's. Doing the math, about 1 out of every 10 cars is a WRX/STI/Evo.

I use a micro fiber towel. Get it saturated with hot water, wring it out then start cleaning. Any product on the interior will just leave a greasy mess.

Default Yo ...

Yes, it definitely gained momentum back in 2001 (could have been even earlier) w/ the launch of the US 2002 WRXs.

I don't mind it. I'll always give a subtle wave at the minimum.

Sometimes if I see the car too late, I want to wave but I get caught in the middle of doing it or not and use the hand on steering wheel and usually give half assed wave with a finger or 2, or 3. By accident I'll flip the bird and not realize it until it's too late.

I also like how I come back to my parked wrx only to see one or two more have parked near nine as if to keep each other company

I have been noticing this as well, owned my '15 WRX for only a week and every single wrx/sti I have seen has waved at me and I'll wave back. First Subaru as well. Always nice to get a wave from a fellow car enthusiast.

I try to park near other wrx's (unless they are beat to ****)
In my experience most WRX drivers care about their cars and therefore either
a. care about other cars (at least a little)
b don't want to scratch their door while giving someone else a door ding

I never get waves because I'm in a 2.5i But I don't care who you are, if you drive a Subaru, you are getting a wave from me

Don't feel too bad. I drive the wife's 2014 Imprezza quite a bit, and I have never gotten a wave.

I stopped waving a year or so ago unless it's someone I know. A friend with an STi gave me crap about it once like it's a big deal. To me it's just become another car. Had 2 different GR hatches catch up to me on my drive home a week or two ago. Made no matter to me as I kept my eyes on the road and my hand on the wheel.
