This is also a thing in the jeep community. I have an old 83 cj8 and any other wrangler or cj will wave to me and me back at them. I enjoy it haha

You obviously haven't used Mother's VLR! Amazing interior product. Use it with microfiber and you will not be disappointed. No residual glossy/greasy garbage and also works GREAT on leather seats to keep them looking new and hydrated to prevent cracks/wrinkles.

Honestly, I drive a 2.5i premium too and when I started driving I waved to a bunch of people but after a while, I realized most outback, tribeca, and forester owners never waved back. I then started waving to mainly wrx's and sti's. Sometimes they would wave back but not usually. Also, I have certain mods so to speak to make my car stand out and I almost always turn heads and have people double checking to see if my car is a wrx, sti, or 2.5i. I had a guy today in a wrx hae to me so I waved back and revved my engine. lololol hehehe

Id say I get a wave from other WRX drivers 99% of the time, and I always wave back. Its nice. Ive never noticed any other subies wave tho.

One funny story, my coworker at work who I goof off with all the time has a new style black Lancer (not Evo, base Lancer) with really dark tint. Usually when we pass each other we flip each other off, stupid stuff like that. So one day Im driving back from lunch to work and Im meeting a black Lancer with really dark tint. As we get close the guy in the car waves and I figure its my friend so I gave him birds with both hands, shaking furiously at him, I might add LOL. I get back to work like 2min later and my friend comes walking by my desk. Im like..."uh, howd you get back so fast"? Hes says, "What do you mean?" I say, "I just saw you out on the highway headed away from work!" He says, "I went to lunch an hour ago man"....DOH! LOL I figure it was an Evo driver being cool and waving and I pay the poor guy back with double birds....I felt bad LOL

More of a peace sign, nod, or thumbs up here in SoCal. Aging myself, back when I ran with the PCA we would flash headlights, or if you had a 944/968/928, manually raise the lights, lol. I miss pop up lights.......

Pop-up headlights on the old Supras and Celicas were aerodynamic nightmares.

It was a nice surprise gettin unexpected waves when I got my STI. I have been riding a while myself and was used to the biker wave, but the only time I exchanged 4 wheeled waves was with Jeeps while in my 7" lifted 1st gen Explorer that looked like it survived the apocalypse.

Because they expect you to flash them first.

For the most part every WRX, STI, throws up the dueces or nods. Theres a few pricks however but im sure thats everywhere. Sometimes the DSM owners wave but not very often.

Ha! I just moved to Broomfield, and out of instinct still wave. I think I've only had 1 or 2 wave back....now it makes sense lol.

I went from my 2010 WRX to a 2012 Legacy 3.6R Limited and the waves stopped . Now I'm back in a 2015 WRX and the waves are back .

I feel your pain. When I see a "tuned" Suby approaching from the distance I always pop down my window and wave, only to realize most times I'm not even on their radar

Most of the people out here in SoCal don't even look your way when you're driving rite next to them! Lol
There are a few who will wave back, but not many.
