Question Does any one know about how much it costs to have a transmission rebuilt?

Does any one know about how much it costs to have a transmission rebuilt, or does this price very too much? Here is my situation:

I have accepted the fact that I am responsible for my transmission breaking (kinda). It feels like it is only my 3rd gear, and the up shifts and down shifts into 3rd.
Am I better off (money wise), getting a used transmission (approx $1000+ labor) or having mine rebuilt? I know transmissions are very delicate and require precise measuring. Should I have a dealership or a transmission shop do the rebuild (I am skeptical about anything the dealerships around here do)?
Can I get quoted a price from a shop before they do anything?

Yes I am clueless when it comes to this topic!

Nothing will be covered under warranty.

I don't think anyone knows the answer to your question.

But I would get your transmission rebuilt at an independent shop if that shop was GOOD. I believe the suby transmission is not suby specific. Isn't it a Nissan transmission?

Do not, I repeat, do not have stock tranny put back it your car! Its just going to brake again. You should invest a little more (Maybe 2000) and buy a dogbox. Do a search; there are posts at length about them. If under 300hp these things are virtually indestructable...........................
