Return of the SRT4! AWD will make reentry even more of a mofo.

This is a bit of a surprise. I didn't think FCA would actually incorporate AWD into the Dart SRT. Too bad we have to wait until nearly 2017.

Will probably have manual rear windows like the SRT-4 and all we'll have to do is pull up next to them and put down our rear windows then we can grandpa mode drive off

This is fantastic news. With Mitsubishi pulling out Subaru would have a monopoly on the sub-30K AWD turbo market, and you know what that would have meant; stale products with no incentive to innovate.

It's cool that they're trying and I hope it turns out to be a solid platform (in at least some regard) like the neon SRT-4 was, but I'd still be apprehensive about buying one because dat brand.

Even though Mitsu has fallen off the face of the earth right now, when they made the evo it was still a decent brand and the evo had long since been proven, which is why I wasn't scared buying one now. A tuner car already has the propensity to be unreliable or have it's share of issues, and then add the chrysler nameplate on top of that... I'm pretty sure that's some kind of exponential growth as opposed to additive.

I hope they do well and produce a car that is on par with the WRX. Subaru has had no real competition for a few years. It could do some good all the way around.

I agree with no segment competition in the near future I would hate to see stagnation on Subaru's part. Competition drives innovation.

Heck, they haven't had any real competition for quite a few years. Other thn the EVO, what other turbo AWD Hatch or Sports sedan has been there to really compete with the WRX/STI? That is probably just another reason why we are not getting a hatch this time around. Not bitching, just stating an opinion.

Sorry if you mistook my reply as you complaining, that wasn't my intent. I was agreeing with you that the lack of competition isn't good for the market overall because it doesn't give companies incentives to get better.

No, no, no it wasn't aimed towards you. I was sure someone would take my "no hatch" statement as bitching. I'm hoping that Chrysler goes for it and brings it out as a kick ass AWD Coupe! Probably won't happen, but the ACR Neon was pretty well done for its time. You just never know.

I would have never considered owning a Ford and then, BAM! Focus ST and Fiesta ST come out and absolutely kill it. I hope this can do the same.

AWD is a surprise. Competition is good. Hopefully SRT comes out with a good product...

That is good news! This sounds like a WRX, even STi competitor

More competition, means more variety and that is good

once upon a time, FHI aspired to move the LGT in an upscale trajectory to compete with the likes of Audi and other premium european brands. then Audi stepped its game and materials up, so FHI decided the legacy would make a really great Camry competitor, and gave it a CVT. the end.

Number of times my SRT has been in the shop with issues in the last 6 years: 0
Number of miles: 140,000 (135,000 miles modded with straight pipes, CAI, and predator tune)
Number of DIY repairs: 1 tail light bulb replacement, 1 lift gate gas strut

F-ing bullet proof.

Compared to my 9 year run with my previous '04 STi (100% stock the entire time):
@1,000 miles - Complete catback exhaust replacement due to rust
@2,000 miles - Heat shield replacement
@2,900 miles - Clutch pedal replacement due to loud squeak
@16,000 miles - ECU replacement due to cylinder #3 misfires
@30,000 miles - A/C compressor replacement
@40,000 miles - Clutch replacement
@40,500 miles - Oh, hey, clutch pedal squeak is back
@50,000 miles - A/C compressor #2
@60,000 miles - Sold (still miss it even with the above issues)

Just sayin'. The Dodge/Chrysler stigma is quite unfounded with the SRT line.
