Default 04 Brembo Swap Spare Tire!?

Just swapped a set of Brembos onto my 04 WRX. Now my spare that came with the car does not fit. I tried searching on here to see if anyone was sell and that was no go. Also tried Tire Rack and eBay for an 04 STi spare tire, but those were still no go.

I'm currently running 225/45/17 on 17x7.5 +48 Rota Tarmac 2. Think I could just try to get a 17x7.5 +48 and try to fit it in my trunk? What are my options? I do quit a bit of off-road driving so I would really love to keep my spare.

Guess it matters how much you want it to fit in there like the spare did? Could always try and set your current setup in there and check? I would think it would push up a bit on the spare cover. Good luck.

Might as well put in a 205/40/17 =) or somewhere around there.

On www.car-part.com, when I searched for a 17x4" spare for a 2004 Impreza (which I'm assuming must be the STI spare, since they also list 2 different 16x4" spares), their results pulled up a bunch of 2005 Legacy spares. Perhaps the '05+ 2.5GTs, with their big non-Brembos, used the same 17x4" 5x100 spare that the '04 STI used? See if you can find a Legacy owner in the BAIC forum here or on one of the Legacy forums.

There are also a couple of '04 Imprezas that come up in their results. It doesn't specifically say they're STIs, so you would need to call the salvage yards and see.

The 17x4" on the Legacy GT looks a tat-bit different then the STi 17x4". Can anyone confirm?

The 2004 (since you need 5x100) STI temporary spare has additional clearance for the front Brembo calipers. The 05+LGT I believe may not have sufficient clearance.
My opinion, used temporary spares go for around $100+. Additionally you are looking for one that only came on one MY of the STI, so it might take some time. Pretty sure you can buy a brand new 2004 STI temporary wheel from a Subaru parts supplier for around $90. Swap the tire from your current spare (same size) and you're in business.
