Default mixing stock with after market

Is it possible to use the stock tape player with a after market cd player? I was thinking of just hooking both up by spliceing the wieres together but then i would get a mixed signal unless one is off i think? Just want to knwo becuase there are some tapes i need to listen to.

The easiest thing to do would be to get an FM-modulated CD changer. You could easily integrate it with your existing tape deck, albeit you won't get the best sound quality.
Or you could pick up a WRX 6 Disc in dash CD changer/tape for cheap, ~$125.
Or you could buy an aftermarket double din CD/tape deck.
