My 2004 WRX project, baseline runs...
Picked the car up for 6k a month ago, besides fluid changes and a good once over it is bone stock and has 149,000 miles on it. 5spd.

1st pass: 15.02@94mph 2.43 60'
2nd pass: 14.83@96mph 2.31 60'
3rd pass 14.80@95mph 2.34 60'
4th pass 14.77@96mph 2.27 60'

Please keep in mind; I was not launching (a little on my last pass) & granny shifting...fear of breakage.

My goal is a mid to low 13 second pass by the end of the season with bolt-ons & a tune.

Is that all drag racing though? Power bragging isn't necessarily drag racing stigma!
Gotta make power to auto X and road race too!

Eh, I kind of lost interest in drag racing but I did go to the local 1/8 mile today for the first time in a few years. It was kinda hot, mid 80's. Went a 8.59@82. My car has been as quick as 8.1 in the 1/8 and 12.6@110 in the quarter a few years ago. Nothing spectacular, but not bad.

You'll get better response in PPB.

I didn't realize people drag race subaru's, I always thought Autox was the fave among racers. I could see why driving in a straight line would be fun for mustangs, but subarus are meant to turn.

So that's why everyone at the track was looking at me funny!

I'll see what I get out of the PPB forum.

Says the guy with the 2.5i. Of course a 1/4 mile is boring to you, I could take a nap in the time it takes an NA Subaru.

You'd be surprised how fast those American cars are in corners. Surprised and silenced.

You insulted a car implying it couldn't turn as well as your amazing subarus. I was just letting you in on the fact that they can.

Climb out of your hole and look around. You'll see subarus can do a lot more than parking lot cone racing.

I know what you'll say next.

Besides the factory drag cars of the 60's, I can't think of a lot of cars that were meant to be drag raced. When people think of drag racing, they automatically think of Mustangs, Camaros, etc. just because of rear wheel drive. And when thinking Subaru, people automatically go back to the WRX roots, which is rallying.

But if the past two decades has shown us anything, it's that turbocharged AWD 4cyl cars absolutely have a place in the drag racing world and are extremely competent at it. Sure, the faster you go, the more parts you break, but that's drag racing for virtually anything.

That being said, you can have fun drag racing anything. If an owner of a normally aspirated Subaru is running 16.0XX for months, and decides to play with tire psi or change his shift points or whatever, and drops 1/10 of a second to 15.999, he is going to be as pumped as the guy running 11.00's and finally breaks into the 10.00's. It's a challenge to see what works and what doesn't.

Mine works fine for drag racing. Floor it, let it bang off the LC for a few seconds, it makes boost, then sidestep the clutch and it just goes, no drama. Bang a few gears and it's done.

I kind of lost interest in the past few years, but to me it's more fun to go 100 mph at a dragstrip than drive around cones in a parking lot at 10. I think the biggest thrill would be stage rally followed by road racing.

I hate the petty, stupid fights that i see prop up so frequently on this forum. And Subaru's really do have a place on the drag strip even though they may not be purpose built for it.
