Default Spec b tranny into a 06LGT

So I just got off the phone with outback and they said my tranny is going out I figure might as well upgrade if I'm going to have to rebuild or replace. So my question is what all changes will be needed to put a either then same year spec b tranny in or a newer one if at all it matches up?

I think the 06 Spec B comes with the same 5 speed you have now. If you want an upgrade to a 6 speed, you'd want the 07-09 Spec B tranny, or any STi tranny. Either way, a 6 speed swap is super expensive and you'd need new axles, a driveshaft, and an R180 rear diff. Makes more sense just to go with another 5 speed unless you've putting down 300+ whp and you want a tranny that will hold up to abuse.

Yeah thanks after a bit of price checking it's going to be $1000-$2000 ore to swap it out compared to $1500-2000 to rebuild... So unless I find a cheap good condition 5psd spec b I'm just going to have john john rebuild mine...
