Thumbs up

I'm confirmed. You have my number listed in your phone.

I'm also coordinating with Brent from Austin Subaru for the rest of the austin subie owners (non-forum people). I'll have a firm number from him this evening hopefully.

We allowing non-subie owners to join us?

I'd do it, depending on the final cost.

I take it this is a chance ot practice driving for the Auto-x.

Any idea of other ways to practice without actually running in one. Are there any tracks setup where you can get an hour of track time.

Anyway if this is going to happen I would definatly be interested.

Sorry if these questions have been answered, but I was curious about a few things.

Are we just going to run on the track, or are we going to try to set up an AutoX course? If so, where are we going to get cones and who will be the designer? What about insurance, is it included in the price of renting the site?

You can count me in if we will set up an AutoX course.

I'm in....
As far as set up, with the Z club of Houston, we just run 2 or 3 groups running the track for about 20 minute runs at a time. Last time I ran the track quite a few times....enough time that we were pretty tired at the end...?!
Running the open course is a blast...after one of the rallycrosses Andres and I and several others ran the course unrestricted and we were getting up to 70 mph on the stock tires....TRUST ME...you'd much rather have it open and run it as a road course then to have a start and stop and cones...
As long as we have a small # of cars on the course at the same time it is very safe. I'll get details from my Dad about how they run their event. I've been waitin' to run GSS as a road course again for a long time...drooooool....

If there are people who want to do both, autox and open course, we could do half day of each. It would require quite a bit of organization to fit everything in.

Chris, do you know what hours we will have the track?

Like Skel posted, GSS is a paved asphalt 7/8 mile road coarse. It is the main site for Houston SCCA. Located in Hitchcock @ 30 miles south of Houston on IH 45 south (exit 15). This is NOT an autocross event. This is simply for us to go out and have fun testing and tuning. We will get the track all day, from dusk til dawn. There will be a cutoff of 50 cars. We will run 4 cars on the track at a time with a courtesy time limit of 10 minutes per session. (session starts when your tires hit the track). I would like to set up some sort of course, at least a couple of slaloms. We will probably run it open and slalomed off and on throught the day. The cost is $800 no matter who goes. The more that go, the cheaper it is. If we could get 40 or so people to go then it would be less than $20. Insurance is not included with that price. Don't worry about that because it won't cost you anything. I will most likely front the cash for that and as long as there is no claim then I get it back.

Sup, I really want to go and its a perfect day being that I can't really go to any meetings and get togethers on saturday. I'm really new at this and I just got my RS in Jan. I've never gone to anything like this....well with me driving on the course that is...I've always been on the side line. I'm probably gonna be the only rookie out there if I go. How will it be?

I've only been to one Auto cross and I was a spectator. And can you believe I've owned a subaru for almost 5 years, and never done this.

Looking forward to it.
