Default Rails, injectors + Stg4 tune

Installed my injectors (~1 hour) and rails (~5 hours ) yesterday. I used the TXS stg4 UTEC map...got me going, thanks Nathan. One point of interest to those planning this upgrade (re: rails) I had to pull approximately %15 fuel out across <most> of the fuel map. Goes to show you how crappy the stock fuel system is

BTW, the rails install is not for the faint of heart or newer tuners..it is alot of work / thought.

I was looking into upgrading My fuel rails to the Perrin fuel rails. Can you give me tips on what to be prepared for? Thanks...

Joe,

installing fuel rails is just time consuming. need to drain and flush the fuel system just like doing the brakes.

I have the Perrin Fuel rails but just haven't got a chance to put it in. I am gonna have RedStar to do this job..

Default Rail install

I bought the Perrins....I am very satisfied with them. What to look for:
The install instructions say to purchase hose. Buy 3/8" fuel and 1/8" vacuum hose instead of the 1/2 and 1/4 they specify.
The factory fuel lines and wiring harness are bolted <underneath> the intake manifold...have a good set of 1/4" sockets and wobbler / extensions. What a design.
The green bracket of death on the driver's side is a piece of cake....not so on the pass side...use said 1/4" drive accesories on the rearward-most bolt under the pass side tgv, hold your mouth just so.. I don't own a service manual, so it was particularly enlightening...and if you happen to do it by yourself in less than 5 hours, you are far better mechanic than I.
