Default 1995 C36 AMG or BUST?

Well, some folk are interested in the Yellow WRX. Some to buy and one dude wants to trade his MB.
I haven't seen it yet, but the offer is tempting.
The car has 70k!

What do you all think?

If you want luxury, go for it. A C36 runs a 5.9 for 0 to 60 and something like a 14.5 for quarter. That's slower than the WRX. I can't remember how it handled though.

I looked long and hard at these cars before I got my WRX stayed away for a couple of reasons. But first some notes on the car.

A 1995 C36 has 268 not 276 and runs a bout a 6.2 0-60 the later years actually only 1997 have 5speed autos and 276 and run the afore mentioned 5.9 clip. 1995 have 4speeds.

Now why I stayed away, cost, that is cost of ownership. these are the first mass produced AMG cars they break, alot. They cost more than normall Benz to fix to boot. 70000 isnt too high but thats a alot if it is likely you will loose the motor around 150k. Finally despite apperances and not as much so as M3's owners for the most part put the proverbial smak down on these cars, they were bought to be driven hard.

IF none of that concerns you, then do it, they are awsome, they feel as fast as WRX due to huge Torque delivery. and they are the coolest thing in the automotyive world...the sleeper

thanks for the thoughts. I appreciate it.
I am not too concerned with the mechanical issues since we have a significant amount of know how and tools galore. I am concerned with drivability, performance, and reliability.
I will look at the car tomorrow.

You don't need an AMG to get girls if you be da pimp!

Don't get the MB, its a POS.

You don't want an auto tranny car from them, unless its an SL600, S600, etc.

Only Europe gets their manual tranny cars.

Don't do it, you'll regret it.

Trade for a '97-99 M3, but not that crapper MB....trust me!

What if there is a computer problem. I know that they are not cheap to replace and usually a pain in the rear to diagnose.

Thumbs down

Been there, done that...The C36 is a pimpmobile but you don't need it or want it. It is fast, but not that fast and very expensive to make fast. It handles, but it is for people that have their cars drive them, not that "drive their cars". It is expensive to own...gas, repairs, insurance, licsence fees, etc. As far as picking up chicks, Chris doesn't have that problem ,yet Most important, what will you do with it when it rains

Are you going to check it out today? Give him some refried beans (the ones in the 1 gallon can) to sweeten up the deal or a pair of chinelas...

You'd be suprised at what kinds of cars "the beotches" are into...

For instance, I was the isht in High School with road-race setup rusty old '68 BMW 2002....

Sure, there were plenty of guys in my rich hometown with sick Benzos, Broncos, Blazers, built-up American Musclecars, etc.....but the cool honeys dug my ride because it had character, and was the fastest around turns.....no joke!
