Default Forester XT, WRX or STi??

Hello Tri-State!!

Well, Since selling my beloved 2002 Bugeye, I will be getting a new Subaru in the next few months. So I figured I'd throw a friendly thread out there to see what everyone thinks about the 2015 turbo offerings from Subaru.

Any rumors on what is coming in 2016?

Honestly, I go back and forth between the STi and Forester. It's a toss up between having a more fun performance car that I know I'll wind up tweaking and modding, or having something a bit more comfy for my 42 mile commute.

How about having something comfy that you'll end up tweaking and modding? Depends on your priority. Can't beat the Forester for everyday convenience and you can tweak it. But ti will never handle as well as a WRX no matter what you throw at it.

forester XT...no STi until EJ is out of there.

if you must have sedan WRX at the moment is the better buy...not better car per say, but a better buy + no EJ

My first Subaru is a 2015 WRX and it has me hooked. I get anywhere from 23-30 mpg depending on the road I'm driving on. Its quick and handles on a dime. The brakes are okay but the trans sucks. It is the most frustrating shifter I have shifted. That being said I think you should wait for a 2016 since they already said they will be changing the body again. Plus first year cars are nightmares as my car is two months old and already had a CEL and the fuel door opens when it wants

I may trade this in with about 20k on it if the 2016 is that much cooler looking even if I take a hit.

Funny, I was thinking of waiting till the 16's are announced. I'd like to see a new motor in the STi, and from what I have read, the nav system is painfully outdated.

I think I'd be more inclined to leave the Forester alone, the STi would be too tempting.

Remote start in the Forester, in the winter, sure would be nice.
I'm getting old, I'm fooked.

This does exist. Mine is a '07 in WRB with a complete swap.

http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulle...ersion-129150/

For me it came down to size and options. What did I want out of a car? The room and pano roof were the main reasons I picked the Forester. Cheaper insurance is also nice.

I haven't heard a thing about the '16s but highly doubt they would change them that quickly. Maybe they will add a hatchback?? Forrester is only automatic The new Legacy is nice but there probably wont be any performance parts for the 3.6 If you enjoyed the 2.0 in your WRX then you might not like the 2.5 in the STI, and that only leaves the WRX. Not that that's a bad thing

I am a fan of the STi, I love the fact that the suspension and brakes are already done, because this is something I wound up doing in my 2002.
I REALLY do not like the wing or the ricey engine noise import thing, which I already see can be undone.

If there is an STi wagon in 2016, that will be a slam dunk for me!

The Forster is appealing because of the space, and anyone who owns a home knows it's nice to have a roomy vehicle for all those trips to Home Depot. And, my neighbor with a truck just moved, so the extra room would be nice.

I wish I could afford both.

I have to concur with the other folks who say STi WHEN it doesn't have an EJ in it...

And the navi is horrendous on these cars

I have to agree with others, I have a 2015 WRX on the radar for myself as well. For the money the WRX is a much better buy, unless you are tracking every weekend and need the suspension, the STI isn't worth the extra 4 grand that its listed for over the WRX. Planning on the WRX for myself by March.

Great info guys, thanks. I'll probably hold out until the end of the year to see what 2016 is going to bring, hopefully an STi wagon with a new motor.

What is truly going to SUCK is the fact that this will be my first winter without AWD, I'm driving a friggin Hyundai Accent as a commuter car. Great little car, insane mileage but it sure ain't no Subaru.

I dont see the STI getting a new Motor for 2016. SOA is stubborn as we all know, but the good news for us enthusiasts is that we can all save money by getting more for less in the WRX

They probably need to finish out a contract with the block makers or already have X number of blocks produced, thats why they kept it in their lowest volume car. I would say 2016 or 2017 you will see a new motor in the STi along with that comes 1 or 2 years of testing the new setup in the WRX...

get some decent tires and it will be "okay" in the bad conditions. our old accord used to do just fine...and then i got my parents on the subaru bandwagon and we just picked up out 5th subaru

They dropped the manual FXT's several years ago because me and only like five other people bought one.
