Yup, some parts of Cali are just as north as PA. Id say the northern 1/3 of Cali gets snow like the southern 1/3 of PA gets. Edit: on average*. Obviously northern CA is almost as north as northern PA.

As a whole, I think Cali is larger than PA, NY, NJ, MD, DE, and WV combined. I'm sure we could probably even throw in some more of the smaller stats.

Yeah but the climate is totally different. Average temps in San Fran are higher than PA.

They do. When I lived there a foot was common. 2 feet happened a few times. It just didn't stick around all winter in PA like it does here in Maine, there would be a foot in PA and it would melt in a few days.

Do you know how to replace the pinion axle pin? If you don't, then don't do donuts. It's not that expensive and if you have a lift, you only need a lift jack, some replacement fluid and a $5 part and maybe 5 hours.

Id be worried a lot less about axles and gears breakjng, and extremely worried about the stress and heat you're putting through the center diff on any 5 speed.

The center did doesn't care. It's not as weak as people make it out to be. OP also has a 6-speed, the it's a bit of a mute point.

Not my car, not my problem.

Don't hurt anyone or damage anyone's property while doing so.

Do the donuts and have fun!

And

Lock wheel in either direction and dump clutch. It's the perfect way to start an awesome donut.

Im not basing my opinion on anything I've heard people say. I very rarely read forums or talk Subarus with anyone.

Im basing my opinion on the 3 grenaded center diffs I've been witness to on 3 separate WRX 5 speeds in the last 2 years.

OP might have a 6 speed, but plenty of impressionable n00bs will not differentiate between the two when they stroll into this thread, if it isnt spelled out for them.

I'm basing my warning on a WRX that was driven by my 17 year old son.

17 year olds are all morons.

All of them.

Some good YouTube videos of guys blowing WRX engines doing donuts. Serious rod knock is just a search away, or you can just go for it...

What did your son do to make you sell the WRX?

When I was 17, I was amazed at just how unbelievably stupid my father was.

Now that Im in my 30's, Im amazed by how much that guy has managed to learn in the last 15 years.
