Angry Need help with an exhaust decision

Okay, after quite a bit of i-club searching and research I've narrowed my exhaust choices down to two. I plan to leave the downpipe cat in and not go with a full turboback (I live in Kalifornia). Either way I decide to go, I will be eliminating the third cat (I can always put it back in for tetsing). The real choice is in the muffler and piping. Here are my choices:

Stromung SS Dual Tip Axle-Back ($449) + Stromung SS Intermediate Pipe ($168) + Stromung 3rd Cat Eliminator ($159).
Shipping for the kit is $45 and I would have to pay tax from this CA vendor for a total of $881.

Borla SS Single Tip Cat-Back ($399) + Stromung 3rd Cat Eliminator ($160).
Shipping for all is about $35 and it would be coming from out of state for a total of $594.

I like the dual tip Stromung but I can't justify the almost $300 price difference. Both systems are SS. The Borla will probably be alot louder.

I appreciate any feedback/personal experiences. I may have made my decision by typing this, but it always helps to hear other opinions.

I'll sell you a 3rd cat eliminator for cheaper than those. PM me.

Well, I'll throw in a vote for the Prodrive axle-back $380 plus shipping at Irvine Subaru. Deep and burbly at idle, tuff from 2-4000rpms, quiet-ish 4-5500, xtra tuff 5500-redline. I'm usually very skeptical of performance claims, but I can say without a doubt that just installing the axle-back has really opened things up on my stock exhaust.

Not super loud, but VERY nice sounding. So if loud is what you want, go a different route. Though in Kali, land of the unreasonable po-po, you may want to go subtle.

Hope that helps a little...

You should seriously consider Remus. It hasn't been talked about much but they are full SS and just sound sweet. Their twin pipes are larger than stock (not obnoxiously so) and can get either straight out, or "dtm" style. 2.5" piping. Email Ken U from cecwheels.com

I wouldn't buy any system other than scoobysport. I know it is a bit more expensive than the others, but it is guaranteed for 25 years and is proven to give you an extra 30-40hp as well as maintaining the stock 2.5" diameter. The quality of their system has no rivals as far as build and the sound is loud above 5,000 rpms, but much quiter than any other at cruising rpms. Also, when you look at all these exhaust shootouts in magazines here in the USA, a different damn exhaust wins every time. When you look at the mag's in Europe the Scooby Sport wins hands down over and over again.

NYC: The Scoobysport was my third choice, but I ruled it out due to the backorder problems I kept reading about on i-club. The pricing is on par with the Stromung stuff which again leads me to the conclusion: is the Stromung/Scoobysport worth the $300 over the Borla. All are SS, all are 2.5". For me, I can't justify the price difference. YMMV

Thanks for the replies.
