Unhappy can't hyperterm into utec, help!

Guys,

Just received my utec. I am having issues connectnig into it.

I am a network engineer, so i'm no computer moron. I have tried two different computers using serial ports to console into it and I am not getting any luck.
I have the battery plugged in and am getting a red light indicater, so i know it has power. I have verified that my hyperterm settings are correct with what TXS says. Still no luck. The only thing I haven't tried is another serial cable.

I would appreciate some help thanks.

try unplugging the battery, loading the hyperterm and then plugging the battery in.

edit: you may want to check here as well!

When Hyperterminal is connected, just press ESC key...

Worked like a charm for me.

Good luck,

Mike

Sometimes a 9V battery just isn't enough power. Try connecting with a 12V adaptor or install it in your car.

Make sure your UTECs dip switches are set properly to the "run" mode.

Hit Ctrl + Alt + Del and make sure you have no programs running that may be accessing a serial port. It is best to close all programs except Hyperterminal, Explorer, and System Tray to ensure this.

Also ensure you are using the proper communications port as com 1 isn't always correct.

Good luck and if you are still having issues give us a call.

Thanks,
Phil

I'll second what Phil wrote.

Just seeing a red light is not an indication of proper minimum voltage. Use a fresh 9V battery or a 12V source and see if that helps.
