Thumbs up Exeter Subaru, Exeter NH

One of the best Dealerships I've dealt with. Great staff, I mean all of them. Service is outstanding. Open late hours on Thurs. Mod. freindly. Many of the NESIC members are happy to drive 50 miles for an oil change.

Suresh

Personal Note: Bought 2 cars from them..pretty much everything done over the internet. Went signed papers... walked out in 15 mins. I dealt with John Martin.

Thumbs up

My personal thoughts on Exeter vary slightly.

I think they have a great service and parts department, and I won't go to another dealership for any work to be done to my car.

However, I believe they're sales department is no stand out over anyone else. It may be because I was a 20 year old with not much money, but I don't think things went as well as I wanted.

I got the car for a good price <$500 over invoice. And they allowed me to pick up my new car after hours. However, when I did pick it up, it had less than half a tank of gas, and two big dings on the hood, which were poorly covered up with touch-up paint. Because I picked the car up when they were not there, I couldn't prove that I did not do it. Also, I was forced to do all the "running" myself, in terms of insurance and registration.

So there's my story on Exeter's sales. But again, they're parts and service are definitely top notch.

Terrific service department. Always treated me very well and done good work. I live on the south side of Boston and while it's not worth the drive for an oil change, it is worth heading up there for more or less anything else I'd rather not do myself.

Of course you did all the running yourself!
How many New Hampshire car dealers deal with Mass insurance companies & Registry of Motor Vehicles??
None I've ever heard of...(altho', here in the 21st Century, you'd think the states could be more reciprocal than just info about violations, wouldn't you?)
Probably couldn't get them to give you a Mass sticker either, right?

yes, I realized that they couldn't do any of the stuff I wanted them to... and that was a pisser, but not the main reason for my dissatisfaction.

it was the dings on the hood, half tank of gas, and 100 miles on the odometer that upset me.

They wouldn't budge from sticker, no test drive allowed, and the sale manager was not very professional. I walked away and I am in no rush to visit their showroom anytime soon.

I haven't given up on them, though. I will be taking my WRX in next week for some issues to be looked at. Their service department sounds like they know their stuff. Hopefully, I'll be able to follow up on this post with a glowing recommendation for their service department. We shall see . . .

Question Service dept.

Exactly how mod friendly is Exeter service dept? I bought my WRX there and was wondering if they'll void warranty for BOV or boost controllers, etc. Any info??????

Thumbs up New Hampshire Rocks!

Got my WRX at Subaru of Nashua, very happy with the sales team there. They gave me a great deal on my trade, and wrapped everything up quickly and professionaly. No Hassles! Although they did promise me a Silver wagon, but in the end I settled for a red because they couldn't get one right away. Not their fault these things are selling like hotcakes around here I suppose... I'll let you know how the service is after my 5K.

Went up to Exeter Subaru in Stratham, NH (www.subaruwrxparts.com) and the parts dept. is great. After dealing with the Audi gestapo for the past year (You mod!? Vee Vill Void Yoor Waren-tee!!!) it was a pleasant surprise to get all the factory options I needed and some good advice on aftermarket stuff from very down-to-earch parts dudes.

Talking Exeter Subaru, Southern NH

I bought my wife's Outback from Jake at Exeter Sube and will soon buy the WRX I've been waiting for.

I was ready to buy in August, then September hit and the economy and my personal business suffered a bit. Since then, I go to the dealership about once a week, and Jake never makes me feel guilty or bad about waiting so long to be able to buy. He will still spend any amount of time I want.

The owner of the Dealership, Dave, is a very cool guy, and is generous to the non-profit business my wife works for.

Summary - If you are looking in Southern New Hampshire, definitely check out exeter Subaru, and definitely ask for Jake

PS the techs there are WRX nutcases with all kinds of cool stuff to check out.

Thumbs up Exeter Subaru

We bought our '99 Legacy GT wagon from Exeter Subaru through Autobytel.com when we lived in Maine. Got a great price and they delivered it to our front door. I forget who we dealt with but they were very professional and direct. No B.S.ing around.

They made the whole car buying experience easy. I would highly recommend going with them.

Talking Exeter Subaru in NH RULES!!

OK about a month a go a 19 year old kid sporting a done up Civic rolls into their parking lot. A guy by the name of Jon Martin walks out and shakes the kids hand. The two of them take the 2002 wrx demo car out and give it a little TLC. Flash forward to Thrusday October 24th. I am shaking hands with John once again and driving the car I have dreamed about.
The guys at Exeter Subaru RULE!!! I went to other dealerships in my area such as Tri-City Subaru. The only response I recieved was a cold shoulder and a high monthly payment. I reccomend the guys (especially Jon) at exeter. Ther reputataion preceeds them as a "mod" friendly dealership and their sales staff is top notch. I am proud to do business with them and look forward to many years of service with them. Just wanted to let everyone in I-Club know that these guys are the best, and that they even run www.subaruwrxparts.com. So not only do I have a great team to answer my questions but I also have a shop to buy and have stuff installed at! Thanks Exeter Subaru and thanks Jon Martin!

Parts- Top-notch. (DUH)
Sales- Great. John is a great guy. I didn't by my car there, but I've spent some time pondering there. My girlfriend bought a car from a Jenn there, she was a little flighty, but we already knew what we wanted, so she was just the middle, um, woman. She has since left the dealship.
Serivce- Did a good job, but, I've have more than a few mix-ups with info about where they were work-wise on my car. They need to work on people skills, I think.

Did I mention that they have a great parts department? (thanks brian!)

Default Exeter Subaru

I have lived in Exeter for 16 years now (longer than I have had my license), and have heard nothing but good things about them. My best friend's parents have bought no less than 4 cars from there, so when I decided to look for a Subaru, they were the first place I went. I dealt with Rich Thomas, who very quickly recognized that I had done my research on the car I eventually bought (used 99 Impreza 2.5 RS), and when I walked into the dealership a few months ago to ask about the STI, he was able to give me straight answers to all my questions, and when the time came, he was able to give me the final details and get the paperwork done for me to order my STI in about 5 minutes. I have been very pleased with everyone there, and though I have very limited experience with their service department, everyone I have talked to has been very pleased with their service. I have absolutely no desire to do business with any dealership other than Exeter Subaru.

Mixstix - that's cool about Nashua, but you should post it on a new thread so that Nashua and other Nasioc members know about it - I don't go digging into Exeter's comments hoping to find Nashua stuff.

Me, I'm on my third car in three years from Exeter, say nothing of thousands of dollars in parts and performance accessories.

Black STI.

Hey kfoote- is that Your blue STI in exeter off High street?

I live about 1/2 mi off high street, so it could very well be me. The easiest way to tell is the "Turner Motorsport" license plate frame, and as of yesterday, I now have the Bilstein PSS9 kit on the car so the car is a lot lower (See thread in "Car parts reviews").

As I mentioned earlier, I've lived in Exeter for many years, and several of my friends have purchased, and continue to buy cars from Exeter Subaru.

I was driving and saw it. Nice that there aren't too many STi's around. There is one other black one in the area, and a couple silvers. Never seen a white one around, though. How's the ride with that lowering kit? Is it just springs, or a whole kit? We should hook up so I can check it out. I live in Newfields.

The kit is a complete set of shocks and springs. It's a threaded body coilover kit with adjustable stiffness shocks. The "9" in PSS9 is for the 9 different shock stiffness settings. I played around a bit with them this morning, and there is a definite difference in the stiffness between settings. Yesterday I drove the car on 9F/9R (softest) and today I ran it on 4F/7R, and the way the front of the car reacted definitely changed, though it was in a way where I still feel that the front springs are a bit soft.

The only white STi I've seen was last weekend in Puerto Rico, and I think I've seen more silver ones than any other color. Email me and we should be able to arrange some sort of meeting.

Why didn't you just stand your ground and make them pay for the repair IN FULL?

I'm all for being polite if theirs a problem, but when it escalates to the point of that, I would have been kicking and screaming until I got my way or until they called the cops.

I would personally put in a complaint to SOA/SNE letting them know of what happend, and how they wanted to resolve it with only paying for half of the repair, that sends a red flag saying they know their responcible but trying to covor their asses.

I've had problems with taking my car to firestone, when they messed up my car I was uber pissed off yelling and screaming about to kill the so-called-mechanic that worked on my car. The manager working that night let me know that any repair cost will be covored under them, since I wanted to bring my car to a real subaru mechanic to check it out. Luckly, their was nothing wrong with the car besides coolant all over my engine bay, which was cleaned off and they did a ECU scan just to make sure everything was ok. The bill from the dealership was around $90 bucks, so I went back to the firestone, let them know what happened and also let them know what the manager said that night. The other guy (I think it was the general manager of that paticular store), claimed their was nothing wrong with my car and their mechanics are professional enough to tell what a problem is, this is when I exploded and basically let him know if his mechanics had any sense of professionlism this problem would have never occured, also letting him know that im not leaving until I get reimbursed for this repair charge or ill drive out as many customers as I can. The manager finally budged and told the guy working the cashier to reimburse me, I was glad things worked my way.

I sent a nice complaint letter to Firestone letting them know what had happed and what else I intend on doing legally. They settled in my best intrest.

I just picked up a 04 STI from Exeter Subaru on friday. I traded in my 96 Ford Explorer, when they appraised the truck I had a few mods done to it and I also had 20 inch wheels. They wanted to hurry up and get rid of the STI so they told me that they would give me 5000 for my 96 explorer the way it was. I decided to make the deal, so I called them back and told them that I'd bring the explorer in and put some money down. I ended up putting the stock wheels back on before I brought the truck in. I took the truck in and signed the papers and we exchanged keys and the deal was done. The dealer left me a voice mail on saturday telling me that I must give them the 20 inch wheels (worth $2000). We never agreed that the 20's would come with the explorer. Its not stated annywhere in the paperwork. What should I do?

In both cases, I would stand your ground and try to get what you dealt for. Yes, it was probably decieving when you switch the wheels but they should have said something when you brought it in. If you indeed signed paper work and took the car home, they should be legally bound to the deal.
In the paint case, I would indeed stand my ground and make them fix it. If they are indeed responsible, there is no reason you should have to split it. Offering to split it with you is basically admitting guilt
If necessary, talk to Brian in the parts department. He is a mod on this site and a very good guy. Hopefully he could help...
Exeter has been known for being an excellent dealership and hope you guys can resolve these issues
