Default Uppipe leak and my SAFC tune? Need advice.

I had my SAFC dyno tuned this past Saturday and was very displeased with the results (189whp pre-tune, 219whp after tune). I hopped under my car today to change my oil, and noticed I had a big leak in the uppipe at the manifold to uppipe flange.

Now my question, after I fix the leak this weekend, will my SAFC tune be OK?? The guys that tuned it pulled out a considerable amount of fuel since my car was running extremely rich. Should I just set all the values back to 0% till I can get retuned??

Any help is appreciated.

I hope that you mean pleased, because that is probably the cheapest horsepower that you will ever make on this car.

Anyway, the leak may have a have an effect on your AF if it is big enough to alter the spool-up of the turbo. Fix the leak, and if your max boost and behavior remain the same, then you should be OK.

What are your SAFC settings? From what I can remember, the adjustments made were in line with all the other cars that I've seen being tuned.

220 isn't all that bad. Remember though, the weather was terrible, low pressure and high humidity. You dyno'd kind of low with the unichip as well, maybe a compression test is in order?

OK, I shouldn't say displeased with the tuning, but displeased with the base run. 189 is kinda low for the mods I have (catless uppipe, 3" catless downpipe, catback, MBC, intake, Samco IC hoses, MBC at 16psi). I made 205whp on TurboXS Stage 1 so I don't suspect my compression to be a problem.

Guess I'll fix the uppipe leak and see what happens. I have a Dalta Dash on order so hopefully I can do some data logging and check for myself.

silver arrow: It's a Godspeed uppipe.

Alex, my Hi-Throttle settings are as follows:

1K: -2%
2K: -2%
3K: -3%
4K: -6%
5K: -14%
6K: -16%
7K: -16%
8K: -16%

These seem high compared to what you posted Back in this thread. My setup is similar to what you had at that time.

Brands? Also, do you have an EGT gauge? If so, what's it reading?

Your settings do seem extreme from 5k RPM and up.

Anthony, I may have some ideas for you, but I would have to look at your car.

I dynoed my car literally right before Anthony's car went on. I have all the same type of mods except for an open intake, which my car doesn't have. And I have 1 cat in the downpipe and 14.5 psi instead of 16.

My car pulled 205 whp before and 230 after. You're only 10 hp behind me, which is still within the factory tolerances... some cars are stronger than others. Unless your peak power was recorded right when you hit full boost, I don't think a small leak in the uppipe would affect your power too much if you're still seeing 16 psi. The leak would probably slow you down because it won't spool the turbo as quickly, but once it's spooled, it's spooled.

And if you just noticed the leak, it was probably very minor!

But yeah, your high rpm settings seem rather extreme. I'm using a Field SFC instead of the Apexi AFC, and I don't lean out over 6%. 8% got me an extra 2 horses along with detonation.
