Default How to reset SRS Airbag light????

I had to replace a side sensor and the air bag light is still on. Does anyone know for sure how to reset the system and remove the warning light. I tried disconnecting the battery with no luck. Thanks for any help?

You have to take it to the dealer to have that all reset from what I understand.

The dealer will want to sell you a new seat (with airbag). You can turn off the light with a 3 ohm resistor substituted in place of the seat's airbag connector.

john he said he replaced the side impact sensor and needs to clear the code, you can try disconnecting the battery and touching both cables together(works on some systems) otherwise the dealer will need to clear it.

No, that is in the factory service manual, it is under the SRS section, and how to clear the airbag light. Your indicator panel lights should just flash, and then no more airbag light.

I tried locating this in my 08 legacy but had trouble. The graphic is a little hard to figure out, has anyone done it? Is it located to the right of the fuse panel?

You will most likely have to buy a new (or used) airbag ecu. If you can find a trusted source for a used airbag ecu that guarantees no airbags have gone off then it's just a plug and play with secure torx bits under the front part of the center console.

After much googling, forum hopping, and general research. I've come to the conclusion that in my 08 legacy, and likely 08+ subies in general, there is no diagnosis connector like is shown in the graphic. The system doesn't have a memory, and is self tested upon ignition each time. That is why the code needs to be actively showing when brought to the dealer for diagnosis.

Today, I troubleshooted and repaired what was causing my airbag light to show. I first unbolted the seats, and checked all of the sensor connections underneath. This didn't work, but I eventually noticed that the passenger airbag indicator light near the map lights was not working correctly.

When started, all three lights are supposed to show. "Passenger Airbag" "On" and "Off" stay illuminating during the self test, when the air bag indicator light is on in the cluster. After the self test, the passenger indicator light should show either "off" or "on" depending on whether someone is in the seat.

The "On" light worked correctly, but the "off" light did not illuminate at all, during the self test or after. I then noticed, as I smacked the general area of the lights that the light turned on.

I found a post on a subaru outback forum, which had the same issue, and was able to fix it by re-soldering the resistors on the LED pcb. I did this today, and magically my passenger indicator light is now working properly and my airbag warning light is off like it is supposed to be.
