What is that muffler-looking thing in the engine bay?

I was stool drooling until I saw it and couldn't figure out what that was.. and then I stopped stooling. That's a lotta chrome. I like the muffler tip.

Wow! What -S- said. It's nice rice, but rice all the same.

Just a couple buring questions and comments:

That's with the welded rings they used to create the bends. Are they afraid of mandrel bends? Also, someone needs to tell these guys that varying the diameter causes bad flow.

Is that a grapefruit shooter connected to the throttle body where the FMIC used to be?

Sure looks like a grapefruit shooter to me. Here you can see again what I'm talking about with respect to the intake plumbing. I have seen downpipes created in a similar manner, but they were far cleaner.

What's with the giant scoop when the car has an FMIC? I guess it's used to cool the grapefruit shooter?

it's a "really loud" bypass valve... j/k'ing

It's not the STI, or the RA spec C. It's a standard WRX. Take a close look at the interior.

no need, the chassis code is GDA... which means, it's the regular 250HP WRX
