My parents just left for England and France tonight. I told my Dad to look for some Rally GB stuff for me while he was there.

Get ahold of the local area chamber of commerce equiv (actual name escapes me) and book up a nice B&B. Lots more of these
across the land than in the states. (bed & breakfast for the untraveled) Never had a bad B&B experiece in britain, ireland
or scotland. (well there was one a noisy newlywed couple,
but it was kind of amusing)

Usually in most areas there's a visitors bureau to help find
a place to stay, but I suspect most close things will be packed.
But as the race isn't that far from anywhere, so it's not too bad.
(not like US rallys) You can still find a place 30 -60 min away
for sure.

Start with a national tourism board and get lists of numbers
for the local county visitor boards. From there you can
get B&B numbers.

my god you are an optimist. All of the easy to find accomodation will have booked up months ago around Cardiff. Best of luck.

The rally is also pre purchased ticket only for the majority of stages, you cant just turn up in the forest.

I suggest you read this website http://buypower.vauxhall.co.uk/networkQ/rally.jhtml

There are only a limited number of tickets available at the event, some stages are ticket on the door, most are part of day or event passes.

I hope you have a great time, you sure have left it late though!

we have accomodations right in cardiff (bridgend i think)
for the rally, some friends of the family are gonna put us up till sunday, but we were wondering if it is best to be closer to swansea where the service is?

basically we just wanna be right in the thick of all the action

what are the best pubs???

its kinda hard to buy tickets in advance seeing as how we are in canada, but i am sure we will get in to the stages one way or another

everyone says go for ticket package 2
are those the best stages??

any pub is a good pub.

You should be fine in bridgend, the M4 takes you up towards swansea service area.

Dont underestimate the gestapo on this rally, if you havent got a pass you wont get into the roads near the stages. You best head for Rally HQ and get hold of some tickets unless you are going for the on the door stages.

you can pre-order the passes to be collected at rally HQ acording to the girl on the phoneline i called earlier. Then again she sounded a bit thick and didnt know half of what she should so dont quote me on that one.

Talking

hire a car, you are buggered without one!

Also, on your trip up the M4 into wales, you cross a toll bridge, make sure you have some

You definetly want to rent a car....stages pretty well spread out, and get there hella early. I recomend setting up camp at a stage that is run multiple times. We did it skater style and stayed at a backpackers dorm for really cheap. There are a few in down town cardiff that have a bar (or pub) within! Good luck, don't forget your rain gear and umbrella!
