Default Turbo selection...25g??

This is my buddies setup currently
FMIC
HKS BOOST controller
Unichip
Uppipe
Down Pipe
3inch exhst catless
and some other things cosmetic mods ect.
Ok here is the question, what are your opinions on the mitsu 25 G turbo for the WRX?
He wants all out power but does not want a 5500 rpm lag. Is this possible? Does anybody know how long it takes to spool up one of these bad boys?

Also for this amount of power would you reccomend an emanage? Or a full standalone like a haltech, tec2 ect.

He will still need to get bigger injectors, engine managment, refab the DP and upipe and get the turbo.

I told him that he is sick. Yes the turbo will make gobs of power but what will be the driveability on this thing? I just dont want him to make a mistake. I was thinking something more along the lines of a t3/t4 or an 18g perhaps 20g??

Thanks for your help
Terry

Greddy makes a bolt on T67-25G turbo kit, but from what I understand even with a stroker kit it is still going to be a very laggy turbo. A.K.A. race only. Dont forget to slide a full dog box tranny into the budget for a setup like that.

a 25g holy $&*( if he could spool that he would be the man, I would suggest getting a crank with a little less stroke to take it to a higher redline bore the crap out of everything especially the exhaust ports bigger valves you would have to do all sorts of stuff to spool that big of a turbo unless you wanted to kill cars on the highway you would definately do that.

Also what are your opinions on the emanage for this setup?

Boogerwrx has (had?) a TD05-18g on his '02 WRX last I heard. I know I read a post about the install and greatly improved performance over his old VF23, but all I can find is this post where he refers to the 18g:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hlight=TD0518g

I'm running the small 16g, which is a bad ass street turbo, but a far cry from an 18g or 20g, let alone a 25g

In '03, I'll be swapping in bigger injectors and a big 16g or 18g.

Yeah I am running a small 16g with clipped wheels on my MP3 and its a sweet turbo. Mitsus are great reliable turbos.
Just trying not to get my friend to go overboard. He just spent the weekend at a supra dyno day and now he is having visions of granduer. He wants the biggest damn turbo he can find.

I think a 20g is a better approach.........and hell thats still big

There are several vendors (including me) coming out with T3T4 kits so you can customize your turbo. You can get anywhere from slightly smaller than a 20G up to bigger than a 25G. I have one on my own car that is in between the two (closer to the 20G) and it spools by 4k. Get some headwork done to gain 1000 rpms or so and you have a 4,000 rpm powerband.

20G's are not as hard to spool as you think.
As I said, mine is larger than a 20G and it spools by 4000 without issues and I have yet to tune it much.
