Default Birds of Prey

Alright, I watched it. Ferg was anticipating it yesterday. What did anyone think who saw it? The lead hero chick isn't Jessica Alba (Dark Angel), but it's not a bad show. Not exactly true to any of the stories in the books that I'm familiar with regarding Batman having a kid, but I like the creative license. I guess the idea worked with Superman, so why not try Batman now?

Anyone else? Ferg...?

I don't get the title. Are bats birds?

Or did 'Flying Mammals of Prey' not work well with the test audiences?

I couldn't get into it. I watched it for about 20 minutes and I couldn't take it any more. I don't know maybe just too teeny bopper for me.

Like a comic book version of dawsons creek.

I liked the look and feel of it, and the actors aren't bad, but it didn't quite grab me in the same way as say Smallville, or even Firefly did when I first saw them . But it might get better. I'll give it another few episodes before I make a decision.

I applaud the WB for taking risks with new ideas

Btw, I wasn't being completely facetious before. I really don't understand the the title of the show (if indeed it's Batman related somehow). Can anyone explain?

Didn't hold my interest. I dunno, guess just wasn't fast passed enough, enough plot, or something. Like Ferg, I'll give it another episode or two.

I thought it was alright. Kind of slow, and what's the point of doing a 70 minute show? I don't get the title, either, much less the tiger growl that appeared every once in a while when Catwoman's daughter was fighting someone. I didn't get into Smallville early on, so I thought I'd try this one. We'll see.

givin it a few more episodes too. it's a good idea, we'll have to see how they step up the intensity once some real criminals surface.

It's really a teen oriented show- total crap IMHO- I watched it because I'm a big Batman fan, but what I'd like to know is- where is Batman? Is he retired or dead? It's only 7 years since the big final battle between Batman and the Joker, so did he retire? He wouldn't be old enough yet- also, if Batman won the battle, why is the Joker still going around Gotham kicking ass? He has the chance to kill Catwoman and paralyze Barbara Gordon (how did he know she was Batgirl anyway?)

I would agree that it's taking a very different take on the Batman mythology, if you can call it that. I think that Batman's apperance on the show will probably precede it's end by about one week. They did kind of try to explain it by referencing the fact that Selena Kyle's and Barbara Gordon's run ins with the Joker drove Batman mad, but I'm not sure about that.

Maybe they'll tie this into the Batman v. Superman movie, which will also include Batman Beyond.

It was a bunch of teeny-bopper ball baby BS... (like most other shows on TV) It looked like they must have spent more time and money picking out cute little outlfits and makeup than fighting crime or taking acting lessons. In fact it didn't get good until I muted the sound and broke out the astro...

The dissapointing fact in the show is that Btman's Daughter was supposed to be bad ass, bad attitude, and shady principles. However, she is your typical reformed teenager. come on give a break.

Actually, the show is based of a comic book series from a while back. The show actually changed from the comic. The Huntress is supposed to be the 3rd person to join, not the psychic girl who is called Black Canary in the comics.

Does it make sense now about the title of the show? You have Bat Girl and Black Canary. But it seems they are going to lead up to "Black Canary" later on.

I also believe in the comics that the Huntress was never mentioned to be Batman and Catwoman's daughter. I think it was mentioned in other comic book versions though.

Stories/writing -- average to poor
Acting -- average
Premise -- unbelievable even by comic book standards
Atmosphere and set design -- pretty good
Number of hot chicks fighting in gratuatously skimpy and flimsy outfits -- good to excellent (not to mention a buff male or two to please the female audience)

Evaluation: One step above the old Batman TV series. (well maybe two steps due to the hot chicks part)

Big question: why do any of the bad guys (and girls) listen to Harley Quinn. Other than her character being crazy and a bit*h (as well as kind of hot) I can't see any reason for a bunch of (lame) villians with superpowers taking orders from her. (Just wondering ) Also, if I walked into a psychiatrist's office needing help with my problems and she was wearing a tight bright red shiny leather mini-dress I would definately become suspicious.

I'm a big fan of Batman, but I couldn't get into the first episode of this show at all. Haven't watched since. If I want my Batman fix I'll read Year One, Long Halloween, or The Dark Knight Returns. But not The Dark Knight Strikes Back. I don't know what Frank Miller was thinking there

I've seen commercials for the show, and all the lines I've heard sound really horribly cheezy. I've had friends tell me to try to watch it, but I've been too busy. "I am the weapon"---what the hell? It's not just the lines, it's the delivery that makes me think of cheese.

Yeah, the title doesn't make sense to me either.

Smallville was pretty bad this season, right after the season premiere, but last week's episode made things seem all right again... even if it was soap opera-y. Haha.

This thread would have been much better if it was about Klingon Birds of Prey.

Haven't watched it since the first episode. Tried to watch the second one, but found that there were better things to do. It still hasn't really gotten me hooked, and probably won't.

I haven't watched the show. All I know about it is what I've seen on TV ads and heard from a friend who has watched it, but I have a question (maybe a stupid one considering my ignorance about the show).
Does this love child of Batman and Catwoman have super powers? If so, where did she get them?

Birds of prey sucks...

I'm a huge batman fan and couldn stand the show after the first 15 mins...

First off The huntress is not Batmans daughter... She's just another crime fighter that batman can't stand due to her overly violent nature when dealing with baddies...

Though Disk grayson as nightwing had a thing for her...

Also if you want to know how the Joker found out about barbara being batgirl I recomend reading the one part comic, 'The Killing Joke' Which is where the joker shoots and paralyzes her.

Anyway... show sucks... comic rocks... stop wasting brain cells watching TV, and go waste you time and money reading comic books... it's what I do.
