Default Uppipe and Downpipe sitting in my house, who wants to help me put it in?

Alrighty, I have a nice Vishnu uppipe and Stromung DP (all new gaskets for everything too) sitting in my house. Who wants to help this install n00b put em in? I heard that if you have done an uppipe install before that you can do another one easily, I hope this is the case :-)

If anyone can lend a few hours (weekends are best for me, how about tmr?), a driveway (or preferably heated garage ), a set of stands, and their expertise, let me know.

Thanks a lot people!

Man, up and downpipe is gonna be 5 hours of misery unless you have a warm place to work. Good luck finding some helpers. I know there must be somebody out there loking to wrench it.

Sorry, man. My cat-less STi up-pipe is sitting on a shelf still.

If you can find a place to do it, and you find someone with experience, I'm more than happy to offer my jack stands, jack, weak arms, and tools this Sunday.

Past Wednesday night, I can no longer guarantee I'll be available Sunday.

However it works out, try to remove the heat shields the day beforehand, don't party the night before, and start early in the morning by soaking the studs/nuts liberally every 10 minutes with Liquid Wrench or WD40. I'd do it at least 3 or 4 times too...

This is one of those things I think anybody can do, it just takes patience and time. It's just nuts and bolts, right Follow the instructions, take them off, notice what they came off of, set them aside in an orderly way, and keep following the instructions...

That's what I kept telling myself while trying to psych myself up for it. My only fear was the very uncommon chance of shearing a stud off and then trying to deal with the ensuing hell.

I plan to do mine eventually. In fact, the only thing stopping me is being lazy and not tracking down some spare studs and picking up some OEM gaskets.

And I'm an automotive idiot, I assure you.

Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible for anything that happens as a result of me possibly convincing you to do this

Well, I am thinking I'm just gonna suck it up and have Exeter do it... I really don't want to do this unless I have someone right next to me helping me....

if you have any mechanical ability you should be able to install both well under 5 hours. Up-pipe is not fun, but not hard. just pay attention to what you are removing and youll have no issues. It took me about 2.5 hours to do a dp/up-pipe/catback. You will appreciate/respect your car alot more if you do the work yourself. thats half the fun.

So do you want to help me do it awdwrx?? Having someone there who knows the quirks of the install and such would really make it go a lot quicker, and I'd still learn what I was doing...

Schleppy- Too bad you couldn't make it last weekend. Korey and I would've been happy to help. I've never done an up pipe and downpipe on a WRX but I've put an up pipe and downpipe on my 2.5RS (among other things ) If you guys are looking for a place to work one night this week, you're still welcome to drop by my place and do it, but I'm way down in Rhode Island.

My understanding of the process is that you need to remove the turbo heat shield, EGT probe from the up pipe, unbolt it from the turbo then from the exhaust manifolds and pull it out from the bottom. I've got a WRX turbo in my RS so I know where the exhaust housing inlet flange bolts are and I can see how they'd be a b*tch to get at

Well, I say that we get a nice core group of people together and do it, me, Darshu, and whoever else has experience with doing it. Meet up at Darshu's and get em in :-)

Let me know if anyone's interested...

I'll like to help, I also have a uppipe in my basement waiting
to go in.

As of my ability, the most complicated mod I 've done is the silencer mod and boost guage.

Let me know if you still want to do it yourself.

I was thinking Exeter, too. I read through the instruction
at VishnuTuning.com, and it should be okay to do if you
have a warm place to work in.
