How can I get them back? Help me please.

For some reason, i'm having trouble thinking this is really you...

That really sucks Alex. Come join the dark side (www.wrxhackers.com). On a serious note, I've got a friend of a friend that works at a major hosting provider with some root DNS servers. I'll seek advice. I have a feeling if Nick decieved you and took the domain names you can get them back through standard legal channels. I heard some interesting numbers on the gross revenue I-Club is bringing in. I find it hard to believe it's not profitable (as Nick seems to continually protest).

No offence guys, but Alex posted several times in the past few months that he's "finished with I-club" and "I've not had fun here for years" be careful who you follow into battle, make sure your "leader" is leading.

Also notice most of the people siding with Alex have >5000 as their member #s. A lot of the people backing nick are in the 100s not 1000s.

Either way good luck.

what the hell does that mean???

I think it's more acurate to say that more east coasters are siding with Nick and more west coasters with Alex

It has nothing to do with location. I (and many others) aren't taking a side. I don't want Alex to go, but if he is going to sit here, talk bad about Nick, make up lies, and act like a child he makes it hard not too side. But he is angry, and I hope he gets over it soon and starts to think like an adult. Unfortunatly, that might be too much to ask. If he goes, it would be a real loss to the site.

Members:
Think real hard for a second. Before today, when was the last time Alex had done anything on this site that wasn't a "I'm sick of this, I'm laying the smack down" sort of mod move (like what happened in OT. not long ago) or a actual GB run by him? Seriously, think about that.

I'm not saying Alex should not be upset. No one "out here" see's the activity in the moderator forum. I'm just encouraging members here to look at the big picture for a minute.

To turn things around for a minute, when was the last time Nick actually did something to this club that was really, really bad for it, or at least didn't have the best intentions for this club? I can't think of one thing.

This is a big communication problem between Alex and Nick. Maybe it wasn't handled correctly ( I don't know), but right now this is certainly not the best way to deal with it. A party divided never comes out on top. Alex and Nick need to talk this over. These antics on the site just make it all worse.

Nick was and should the webmaster, and no more. If he's got 67 vendors, then he's got plenty to cover costs, and i really don't care anymore if he's pocketing $ or not.... THIS SITE BELONGS TO ALEX. PERIOD.

For the record... GoDaddy has the forms you signed and faxed into them to transfer the domain names over. I didn't steal anything. We transfered them so I could keep them registered without fear of lapsing the registration if you recall what really happened.

Hey Alex,
email me. I can help a bit. suicidallabrat@yahoo.com

On an aside. As a Sr. Unix systems administrator for Electronic Arts world wide operation group I can assure you your site was not architect'ed appropriately. There are many ways to collocate and appropriate resources more efficiently. I have personally architected and managed all of EA and its associated studio boards, our metrics were umpteen times greater than this board will ever see, and it can be done on a couple weak front ends with a db back end. Even via a flat file db. I would be more than happy to help engineer a solution for any proposed future ventures you may have.

Oh, and ICANN is the organization responsible for maintaining domain name registration records and dispute policies and laws governing domain name registrations. Though they are not particularly helpful.

There is this route as well...
http://www.technoinformationlaw.net/

...edit...
I dont want an i-club war, I will not be a part of that. If you want help getting something new off the ground then I can help...

woah! thats like the exact same thing i was thinking.
I always liked Imprezer as a moderator because he never filled the forums with all kinds of useless garbage posts. I remember back when we had installfests and nobody would put me down for not having a wrx. Before a whole off-topic sub culture (wtlw, ibtl, iggdawg is cool, i had sex with my teacher.....) crap started.

Ahh the good old days!

IggDawg is cool... he's awesome actaully... but yeah, the rest of that stuff got old.

I remember there not being a single WRX in a meet, and if someone was turbo it was like

Dude...chill with the generalizations! I mean what if I called all the "old sk00l RS'ers" punks with turbo envy and slow cars? That wouldn't be right...so don't lump us all together

I'm here (like MOST members) because I like cars and I happen to own a Subaru...if you're on here, and you're cool...then fine. Even if you owned a Ford I would be nice to you...I might point and laugh...but it's all in fun. If I had a buck for every tricked out RS I waved at and got a blank stare back...I'd have like...um...ok...maybe like 3 bucks....but still...

...a message board punk is just that...a punk! And I'm sure they drive all types of cars! I-club was built by enthusiasts sharing info...and if that stops...it all stops. But I don't think it will stop...

Many of us were RS ( or more general suby ) artisans before we finally planted a rex in the driveway. I have been on this board under several guise since Sept 99. There have been community changes that have reduced my involvement, however, I enjoy having the resource available none the less. I see the failings more an issue of the demotion of the old school subaru ( not RS specific ) enthusiast for the new import enthusiast that has found the WRX. Is that wrong? No. But it changes the environment we lived in. I travel half way around the world to place myself in the paddock with rallye cars, following the WRC circuit. Many members here have no inkling what WRC, nor the cult nature of a minority enthusiast group we all climbed from, is. If we see fault in that, this may simply be the time to work at introducing a forum more tailored to 'our' needs. It is in this endeavor that I am willing to offer myself. I too have grown weary of the drivel.

It's just a generalization man

Ok, so not a lot of wrx owners are like that, but some are... i mean, i've seen this happen at meets, in person!

Wow.. NESIC moderators in the CA forums. =) TOOOO much drama. Oh wait.. I'm from the SE so what am I doing here... oh wait.. JD post whored a link to our site and it was in the referrer logs.

I think all the moderators with the exception of kastle need to read some books about acting maturely. Let Nick and Alex point fingers back and forth all they want. Fact is i-club has a lot of room for improvement and every other site does too. Personally I think it wrong to push out someone that helped found the site, but that's my personal opinion and I do not pretend to know the circumstances surrounding the decision. Obviously I know that my high user number must mean I don't know what's going on as well as some, but hey, I'm not going to be pointing fingers.

As stated earlier from a fellow admin... The way this site is hosted is just awful. For the price that Nick is paying (quoted as being 2,500 a month) the site could be hosted at a nice coloc facility or similar load balanced situation. Fact is... The way it's hosted right now is just awful for high load situations.

Wow.. I've already typed too much. =) Fact of the matter is... the moderators job is not to take sides. Kastle if you read this, thank you for closing that thread in OT and for the tact in which you responded. Now, I'm off to admin my little niche on the internet where I hope to provide useful information for my members without the drama.

EDIT: Wait a minute.. I own a WRX and I don't suck!!

I *somewhat* agree with you, but I've been driving Subarus since 1985, so I'm even more old school than I'd like to admit.

But the fact of the matter is that Alex has always acted more arrogantly than neccesary. I remember meeting him at Rim of The World this year and he barely gave any of us the time of day, like he was something special. His general attitude on the board in the last 2 years has been less than enouraging as well, it seems like his attitude was "dammit, I'm THE Imprezer and you all are know-nothing losers."

Nick, on the other hand, has been nothing but helpful and accomodating. He responds to my e-mails (Alex NEVER did), he chats with me on IM, he is responsive to my concerns and he acts pro-actively for the good of the board.

Alex seems to think that since he started i-club that he owns i-club, this is simply not true. THE MEMBERS make i-club. Shoot, I've contributed more to i-club in the last year than Alex has.

Also, since this all went down today, Alex has been acting like a spoiled little 10 year old which has completely killed any credibility he may have had. Regardless of what Nick may have done, Alex handled the situation terribly.

I'm sorry to see things end up this way, but I'm gonna have to side with Nick on this one.

I was bitching and moaning about this site a long time ago. people called me (and still think I am) an A-hole. F them! I did my own thing and I am alot happier because of it.
It still makes me sad and sick to see this whole "club" go down like this.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......I foresee a CA subaru organization in the immediate future which will kick booty!

I think it breaks down to many interpretations and fallicies (sp?)

What do you consider owning the board?

It's a vague statement. If you interpret in legal/contract binding means, then currently it belongs to Nick no doubt.

If you see it as a enthusist who started it for the love of the vehicle, then thats called owning too.

If you see it as posters who contribute, then everyone owns it and decision should fall to the members to decide in a democratic way.

I can understand the unresponding emails due to all the questions he gets from people asking for price quotes due to his affliation with bozz performance.
