Default Looking for Synth Oil deals...

I need to change my oil soon and I was looking for a good deal. Right now I'm looking for some Mobil 1 Syn of the 15w-50 or preferably 20w-50 variety (if it's even available), hopefully for less than $5.00 a quart. The best I've seen recently was the local Target with a box of 15w-50 for $29.

I'd consider other oils if they're good and no more than $5 a quart.

I get Mobil1 5w30 at Costco for $22 for six quarts.

No idea if they have those weights though.

Why would you even want to run such a high viscosity? I mean, I am fine with 5w-30 and 10w-30. Just curious that is all.

Yes, Frosty Kosty is right... I'm talking about my volcano of a Gti. It seems that it eats 10w-30 oil unless you are driving around the South Pole.

Anway, I do remember seeing 5w-30 and 10w-30 at Costco, but I'm not sure if I saw the red-capped 15w-30. $22 is reasonable though. Anyone know the going rate for Redline and Royal Purple engine oil?

For Redline prices, I don't know what Monument Car Parts (Livermore and some other East Bay Locations) but they are cheap, as is Vic Hubbard in Hayward.

If you do a search in this forum back at least a year you'll see several people quoting prices from these and various other places.

General cheapness is good, though I was hoping to find some random good deal on oil - sale/special/stolen.

WalMart used to carry the 5 Quart containers of Mobil 1 Syn, your choice of visc. for $19. Cant find it lately, at the Yuba City store, but I have heard the guys in the DSM Club are finding in the Bay area stores. Maybe Sacto WalMarts still have it.
Good Luck, Jerry C
