Question OT. Brake fade/hard vibrating

Hey yall. I was just driving at about 80 mph and I had to hit my brakes, my brakes faded and the car started to shake pretty bad and it got hard to slow down. So has this happened to anybody yet? If so was it covered under warranty? Please help I drive to L.A. on thursday and I want to see if its safe.

thanks for your help "DWNSHFT"

How did your 'brakes fade' from one stop. How did you notice they were 'fading'

I agree with Kosta, it sounds as if your ABS kicked in, have you ever experienced an ABS stop before?

Did the whole car shake or did you feel it in the pedal?

Sometimes, you don't even have to be in a panic stop mode in order for the ABS to kick in. A gradual application of the brakes while going over rough pavement may induce the hyper-active ABS.

No I didn't feel it in the pedal as much as under my seat my wife felt the car shak to, and we were on a paved road. I have had the abs come on before and that was a hard pump ion my brake pedal. It kind of felt like the disc was warrped or hot spots and like the car wasn't going to stop in time. With the abs the car felt and stop pretty quick like it was ment to do. I'm so
I guess maybe santa cruz can check it out.
again guys thank you

It's hard to say what happened, can you give some more information.

Does the car still vibrate when you are braking and do the brakes still feel weak? Were you doing any heavy (hard and/or sustained) braking before this incident and how hard did you hit the brakes this time? Were you going downhill? How many miles do you have on the car and are the brakes low or have they been serviced recently?

It is possible for the brakes to fade and/or warp during driving, but usually only under heavy stress.
