Hmm im really curious if the new front end sticks out farther then the old? Then again its prb just a visual perspective twist.
I know people dont like the jewl lights but look at the integration into the wheel flare. Oh well guess im going to half to settle for a white NoN HiD EDM bug eye wrx. Random thoughts by BlitZ i think i made my mind up.. Me wants the bugs. |

The front end just seems kind of out of place from the rest of the car. I'm not sure how you can look at this picture and think the new redesign looks better than the old design:
The front end is just a little toooo long imho. Unless it's just the perspective of the photo, but it looks that way in all the photos on that site. Phil Last edited by dwx; 11-19-2002 at 10:10 PM. |

Well there is no way the perspective is wrong from a side view. It just looks like a big snout on the car... It needs to be about 6 inches shorter and it'd look great... It just isn't balanced with the rest of the car. |

Love those pics! Best shot yet of the STi Dash -- I'm surprised there hasn't been more chatter about the 8k redline...

That Re-design is looking better and better everytime i see it.
Very good Q why is there a 8k redline i thought the 01 sti had a 7500k max redline? did they increase it? if they did then that's even better, can you say a powerband from 2k to 8k WOW I'm pretty sure i can't fall out of that band from miss shifts later |

I beleive the 8K redline is for JDM STi's only. Thier higher octane gas allows them to do that.

![]() (They're at home and I'm at work, so I can't do anything about getting copies out now.) Yes, the new nose looks longer, but it could be a "fool the eye" thing because of the sculpting of the hood. In comparison, the bugeye design front looks square like a brick! IMHO of course. -- Bill |

Yes, but the Aussies get the black face gauges with red backlighting which is a good sign.
Did they also get twin scroll or not? |

I don't care home many times I see it, I still like the bug-eyes better. This front end is a Nissan SE-R in all kinds of ways. That and the abrupt angle on the scoop needs a little massaging. Where as the USMY02 and USMY03 looked better without the foglight covers, the new one looks better WITH. I do like it though, and it has grown on me a bit, but I wouldn't trade my 02 for it regardless. The 02 is far more distinctive looking then this one.
I am happy they are changing it though, that way I will see less people with the same car as me. |

Can someone explain to me why nobody in Australia can open the hood on one of these new cars and tell us if they got the twin-scroll turbo?

Distinctive? THe Aztek is distinctive. The neon was distinctive until the bug-eyed impreza came out.
quite understandable that the sourgrapes are from the bug-eye owners. I think this new redesign kept in line to the evolution of the legendary GC8s. |

Nice pics. Not sure on how to explain that but the new look makes the WRX look like it's missing something compared to the new STI. A bug eye WRX and bug eye STI didn't look that much different on the outside. The new style seems to make them look much more different. Do you guys know what I mean? The new style makes the WRX look "cheaper" if you don't get the tinted windows, side skirts, bigger rims, etc... you know, it makes the WRX looks like a lower model and the STI looks like it should be the only version sold cosmetic wise. Sad move from Subaru in my opinion, for the customers. But hey, great move for Subaru because more people will look at the STI and will even more want to make it look like it if they can't afford an STI.

I think one thing that makes the new WRX look so much different is the re-styled fog lights, which in my opinion are not an improvement. Something just looks wrong with them. The bug-eyed WRX fogs look all of a piece with the front end. One reason the new STI looks much better is it comes without those redesigned fogs. Just my opinion.

All I gotta say is that nobody (well most enthusiasts) didn't but the WRX because it was pretty. I'm not all that excited about the facelift, but it wouldn't stop me from getting one if I didn't have mine already

Hello All,
Sorry if this is a stoopit newbie question, but then again, I am a stoopit newbie, so here goes: I noticed in these pictures that the standard WRXes have painted lower side mouldings, as opposed to the black mouldings on the 2002 and 2003 cars in North America. Is this something new, or have non-US/Canadian WRXes always received painted lower mouldings? Thank you in advance. |
