Default New STI header design for 2.5L engines?

A pic has been up a while now at apexjapan.com site and I was wondering if the design of the new STI header would be good for an EJ25 engine.

--For NA replace the up-pipe with a straight merge to a set of cats.
--For turbo EJ25 the merge the up-pipe for single turbo entry, [or twin entry if you got $$].

http://www.apexjapan.com/news/sti8/f_16s.jpg

I'm thinking a single header that can be used for both NA or turbo applications just by installing the applicable up-pipe. Any thoughts?

Just to cover my butt, I'm not suggesting Subaru or any of the other "name brand" companies should make a similar header. These clowns would probably want $1200k+ for the piece.

I would think an up and coming subaru vendor/fabricator could do a copy 2.5L specific for about $400-$600.

If someone, were to attempt to copy this header design and replace the uppipe with a single 2.5 collector, or even two 2" collectors, I would be interested.

I would also be interested in buy this header, but only the front part. I could fab my own collector.

Well, sans the up-pipe, isn't that basically the design of the Borla piece?

There are a number of N/A 2.5L headers out there, especially considering the low production volume of RSs.

I own the borla piece and that is no where similar at all.

The borla piece follows the stock exhaust manifold routing. It wraps around the engine toward the drivers side, and across the back. It is also pretty small pipe.. It is very unequal length.

This header is equal length and quite a bit larger. With custom Cat piping this header would flow very straight, right into the mid pipe.

just an FYI guys, that's a Turbo HEader for a Twin scroll compressor housing. Completely worthless to anyone with an RS.

If you notice that picture is 2 pieces, the "header" and the "uppipe"

we are only talking about the uppipe. At least that is what the origional thread said.

and why most people that replied, talked about building a collector instead of the uppipe.

just a summary, in case you missed the text of the thread.

We are talking about a "knockoff" that would be specifically for a NA 2.5L, (or a turbo 2.5L just by changing the up-pipe).
If you visit the site you can enlarge the pic to better see the details I referenced.

Julian, there are many 2.5L engines in circulation, many more than just the RS.

****Cobb Tuning and few others are working on headers, cats, exhaust systems right now - just putting this out as maybe a BETTER alternative.
