Default question on this sunday's auto-x

this is gonna be my first, and im having some trouble reading the schedule. are there going to be 2 sessions? and for the first one, i arrive before 8:30am and the 2nd one, i arrive before 11:30, right?

and w/ the addition of just a rear sway bar, springs, and 17" wheels w/ kuhmos, im still d-stock novice, correct? thanks.

it depends on which class you'll be running. The schedule should say which class runs which group. They should have two 'course walk'. one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. That's way you have two 'sessions'. If you run the morning group, be there early so you can walk to course. Have fun!

Nope.... hence the word "stock" (well, more or less, stock isn't exactly stock in fact it's really just a label). Stock class allows you to do a cat back exhaust, brake pads, air filter (K&N), and adjustable struts (the only option available at the moment are Koni inserts), and a different front sway bar. Additionally you may run any tires you like so long as you're running them on the stock wheels. The novice classes have an additional restraint that says you must run a tire with a treadwear rating of 120 or greater (so no R compounds in Novice).

The modifications that you have put you into STX, get there early as STX is run group 1. The first run group is a reverse grid (when you put your car on grid you have to back into the grid instead of pulling up behind someone).

If you have any questions at the event come grab me. Blue WRX sedan, debadged, no spoiler, #360 (I may possibly have #17 on my car at time tomorrow as well).

Cheers, Joe

If you want to compete against other STX oppenents for points then yes that is correct. However, since you won't be able to run enough events to be elidgable for a trophy you could run in the second session (groups 5 through 8) by writing "FUN RUN" in big letters on the top of your card. Note that you still have to do a work assignment if you chose to do this.

I have those same modifications on my car and I am running SM-N. I should be in STX. I am no where nearly as modded as some of the others in that class but since I am just doing it for fun I run SM-N w/subydude, blueWRXwagon, and r_master.

At any given event there are usually several first time novices. Everybody there is very helpful - even the none Subaru drivers

If you are confused about anything, just ask someone and they will either know the answer, or be able to point you to someone else who does.

If you aim to get there for 8:00 that should give you enough time to register and get your car on grid for STX. If you can't make it that early, still turn up anyway and you can run out of group as Joe suggested. Street mod novice is running in the afternoon, so you could always run with OwlBoogie and Subydude.

I'll probably be there somewhere around 8-8:15. My car is a blue WRX number 21.
