It isn't black, its blue!

Default Sunday drive Dec 1, "Drive through Tree"

"Drive through trees" used to be a popular tourist attractions decades ago, but most have fallen down or are no longer accessible.

There is one left up north in the town of Leggett, where Highway 1 and 101 meet.

I will be driving up there on December 1st, probably directly up 101, then returning via back roads out by the coast, does anybody else want to come along?

It's a little longer drive than the usual "meet", expect about 5-7 hours on the road depending on return options, but it should be fun!

Hey! I have been there many times. It's a long drive but fun. The enchanting Chandelier Tree.

Default There is another one a little farther up

just off the Avenue of the Giants at Myers flat, not as nice as the Chandelier tree, but an interesting diversion.

Anybody up for the drive next Sunday?

Default Where are the drivers in this club?????

Gee whiz, I try to get a few Subies together for a day of ripping up twisties with a couple of interesting diversions and nobody wants to come out and play?

The "other" board doesn't seem to be any better in this regard, lots of Krispy Kreamers, but nobody that is willing to go for a serious drive, what a bunch of weenies!

If anybody changes their mind between now and Sunday- here are 3 meeting points:

Pyramid Brewry in Berkeley, 8th and Gilman, Leaving at 7:00 AM

Marin Civic Center, Armory Dr. parking lot, (just SE of Civic Center Lagoon), Leaving at 7:40 AM.

Hopland Exxon, US 101 in Hopland,
Leaving at 9:20 AM.

Pose or drive; you decide!

Enjoy your weekend whatever you do

-Pete

Default Last day bump.....

I've all but given up any expectation of anyone else coming along, but if you are so inclined, do feel free to join me tomorrow.

Otherwise, enjoy your doughnuts

Default no problemo!

If you have a roadworthy vehicle and you don't mind driving for 8 hours, come on out!
If you or your ride are averse to dirt roads, and nobody else shows, I could adjust the return route according to your preferences, as I'd welcome any company rather than doing the whole trip solo.

Default yeah, it is a long trip.....

The junction of 101 and 1 is roughly 220 miles from Berkeley, so figure on about three and a half- four hours getting up there, (but driving up 101 goes by fast as the scenery is getting better the whole way).
Another 40 miles up to Myers Flat, then unless you bee-line it back, the really fun roads will take a bit longer, so yeah, expect a full day of it......

Default You guys missed it....

520 miles, probably a good 100 or so on gravel, 2 drive through trees, and almost no traffic for some 13 hours of driving.

Maybe next time?

Or should I start writing the Krispy Kreme Donut shop Rally-

I'll have everybody buy a donut at each of like 5 KK's in different cities, and use the reciepts for timing slips, whoever collects slips with the lowest aggregate time wins.......uh, let's think about this....

I've got it!

Lowest total time wins a box of donuts!

Hey Pete,
Sounds like it was fun drive. I thought about it but I couldn't afford the time this weekend. Had vague thoughts of doing some Napa twisties but it wasn't to be. Glad you had a good drive.

Tim
PS: Krappy Kream Donot rally sounds like winner
