Default Damn you ICBC

Well folks, I just watched the news and starting next year we will be hit by another insurance hike. ICBC's excuse?? Well they say claims are up due to speeding and increase in car prices. If you are the wrong age, driving the wrong car, and living in the wrong place, you'll get hit the most. I like the take this chance to say "Damn you to hell you *beep* and hope you get skinned alive by hungry rats!" to all these that help increase our insurance rates.

all i can say is thank god i don't have my type-r anymore.... in the last hike my rates went up almost $300. i can't imagine what it would have become this second time

unfortunately being in a subaru station wagon dosen't completely leave me in the clear... icbc thinks being AWD puts me into a riskier category because they think i will be going nuts when the snow hits or something and become a high risk criminal

A suggestion to ICBC...ban all SUV in Lower Mainland. Accidents are bound to go down once they're gone. No one ever take their SUV off road. And have you seen how low their ground clearance is?? Some of them is the same as an Outback. I rather drive an Honda minivan, at least I can fit 6 girls or fold down the seats to have a party in the back.

Not to mention, we are beeing penalized for ICBC's poor investments in the mutual market. If they stuck with guaranteed investments, etc they wouldn't have lost so much money. You think they would have dumped their shares in 360 networks when they started to plummet.

Anyway, I guess we have all taken a hit on the RSP over the last year.

Remember, your insurance premiums are going up and your car is getting older ... go figure.

Have you thought of getting in touch with your "old lost uncle" in some place like Hope. Use his address on your registration.
- No Air Care
- No Translink Fuel Tax
- No ICBC premium hike

Actually Camloops will get hit the most in the regional increase. Don't know why and don't ask me. May be I should look into Canadian Direct. I got 2 aunts and 1 uncle working for HSBC (parent company of Canadian Direct). I wonder if I can get a discount.

I have Canadian Direct and it saved me $100 over ICBC, but unfortunately you still have to get the basic insurance through ICBC which is generally where the price increase will be.

Of course, there's always something you can do about "this monkey".

1- Run for a position where you can change this (you have to kiss a lot of ass ... I mean babies)
2- Bear and grin it.
3- Move
4- Sell your car

Remember. NOBODY is forcing you to drive, but if you do you have to pay to "play".

Actually, I thought the increase in the basic portion isn't as high as the optional portion. Whatever it is, unless you drive a little Prius, never had any claims, don't drive to work, and never had any tickets, your insurance can never be low - that's the way it works. Private or Public, it's all about statistics - and what is being allowed to be included in the calculation. You bet that they would love to be able to profile drivers and base the premiums on that - they couldn't because of the law. Think about what we're paying and what some people are paying down in the states - you think that we've been ripped off? well, people down south are always complaining insurance being too high - my only solution? make sure your job can support what you want.... really, it's the only solution.
