Depends on what you want. I recommend the Yokohama AVS ES100's

if you cheap like me, your choices include Kuhmo 712's, falken azenis, and perhapse some sumitomo rubber
i feel those are the best for their price range.
what is dorifto88 going to get? sumitomo HTR

"Cheap" and "local" are two words that probably don't belong in the same sentence in the Bay Area when it comes to tires. If you get a good deal on the tires you'll probably get screwed on the installation and disposal charges. Tirerack has a warehouse in Nevada so they ship stuff fairly quickly and you'll avoid taxes (usually the shipping charges from Tirerack are less than what you'd pay for taxes on 4 tires).

When I was shopping around for my SP9000's I asked Americas Tire if they'd match the price. They said yes and after everything was all said and done it was still going to cost about $200 more than ordering from Tirerack.

Call local shops and ask them if they'll install tires (explain that you already have them because some places (like Sears) won't install tires that they didn't sell to you). You should be able to find a place that does a good job for $50 to $60 bucks.

Cheers, Joe

Use a bit of caution where you buy and install. If you go to a quality tire place they will usually support you if your tire fails, wears weird, or you pick up a nail. Also, most quality tire shops have quality mounting and balancing systems, which are key to getting your tires to perform well.

I just bought some Konig Passports (170/ea) and Kumho 225x17's (125/ea) from America's tire. They are the same as the online shop Discount Tires, you can check them out at http://www.tires.com. The America's tire shop in Mountain View has a high speed load balancer that will balance your tires while approximating your car weight up to about 80 mph. If you buy the tires from the shop you get free rotation, balancing and flat repair for the life of the tire.

I don't work there or anything, but I have bought tires for all of my cars there for the last 15 years (yeah, I am an older dude).

You get what you pay for!

Talk to Steve or Orlando at Auto Innovations. They will give you a good deal - tell them you are on NASIOC. They do the mount, ballance, etc. and have great service if you flat, etc. They even rotate for free if I remember correctly.
