Wow, just read this thread...

I fell like im in nasiocautopia.com

I frequent both sites... Autopia more while im at home cause I can't wash my car in a huge parking lot at school.

Come 3 weeks, i'll be home.

Then its, wash, clay, medium cut, smr, zaino, zaino, zaino....

Oh yeah, and im gonna head to a bodyshop place and get some dents taken out.

looks nice man! for all interested, check out the forums over at www.autopia.org

I've been on there for about a month or so, and I've learned alot about car detailing. I just picked up this wax called S100 (available at Harley shops) that's a paste wax that you apply over Zaino for added shine and protection. . .haven't used it yet, but will post after I get the chance. . .

Default Another Zaino follower!

Here are my cars, Eclipse and WRX, Zaino'd and my brother's S2000, also Zaino'd. The silver car is my Eclipse. 5 year old paint still looks like that. Proof that Zaino works, and not just a gimick for new paint jobs.

I use Z-5 for the WRX, Z-2 for the Eclipse, Z-6 and ZFX.

BTW-Look at the neighbor's black car.

how about someone puts together a NASIOC kit. Everything the average sub owner would need for the fine zaino finish.

A car wash/detail kit designed for us.

I bet a group buy like that would sell like mad. I'd be in.

With so many steps it's a bit to figure out what to buy and expensive to get started. Especially when most car owners have already spent a lot of money with car parts. I for one have several kinds of wash, wax...etc.

To do well in business you have to steal customers......

foolish? not at all. Are you still going to buy there product? yes? nuff said. Why should they do extra work, then have to give a discount so the custom doesn't complain about how "all they did is put it in a kit, I could buy them 1x1 for the same price". Then you also have to pay maketing fees, have to have someone draw up a whole bunch of graphics, then you need to have the ok of the media people at the company. After that you have to see if there is a market. A market is NOT less then 5k people. And if there is a market they have to fight for already hard to get shelf space and or warehouse space. Which commonly isn't cheap.

In this day, Zaino seems a little odd to me. They only sell thru thier website, officially. Although recently one or two online vendors carry the product. They only sell by mail order. Via check, no credit cards, no online ordering, etc. Odd but still many people keep buying it that way and it's not cheap. I guess if you offer the best wax, you can set your own rules...

Yah, Zaino is old school, but their product sells itself. Also, they have sales reps that you can by from locally. I've got another group of about 8 people buying Zaino with me next week from the chicagoland sales rep.

Actually, we're talking about ZAINO here, not Zymol.

Close, but no cigar.

I tried to get Sal to cut us some kind of deal but this is the response that I received from him today:

Thank You for your kind offer...

Unfortunately, I am working on a special project... and cannot accommodate

a Group Purchase at this time...

Sorry, Hope you understand...

But you can check back with me in about 2 months.

Thank You,

I agree his stuff is awesome. I am an avid user, but thought that since his does most of his advertisment through word of mouth, this would be a good change to get some new users to try his products. His products are NOT cheap. I guess the Subaru community is not worth his time or effort. His bussiness must be just too busy to bother with this type of advertising.

Zaino does do group buys occasionally, but it's very very rare. You may think that Sal Zaino woke up one day and decided "I'm going to market car polishes!" Alas, that's not how it happened. Sal's story is more of the type "I need product XYZ to do ABC, but none existed, so I created my own."

I think it's safe to say that selling car polish isn't Sal's only job or interest.

ok im kinda confused. the zaino z2 is what makes the wet look right? and it's also not a wax right? so do i have to wash, dry, wax, and then zaino? or do i wash, dry, zaino, then wax??

if zaino's not wax, then what wax is recommended to complement the zaino?

Zaino isn't wax.. its a synthetic that replaces wax. Hense, you don't have to use wax, it replaces it.

As far as the price. Zaino is not *that* expensive.
A while back I purchased some Z-2, Z-5, ZFX, Z-6, and Z-7. I also received a few free applicators and a free big bag of towels (I bought from a local distributor) I think the total was $65. Now they also have a "package" that includes a claybar for $85. Since you use so little of the Z-2 and Z-5 a bottle of each can last you at least a year. I have put 4 or 5 coats on from 2oz of Z-5. I dunno about you guys, but I put like 1 coat a month on the car.

$80 a year for car care aint that bad
