yea I saw Rohrl. Old timer gonna do good.
I want J. Gordon to do good. Mainly cuz the nascar drivers always get the bum rap, when they are good drivers. Anyways he spent considerable time sideways on dirt in a mych more powerfull car in his younger days. btw, I don't want this thread to trun into a nascar bash thread I have yet to find any TV programming. Speed does not show anything past Dec 1. |

Yeah, Gordon earned a lot of respect from folks last year, and he did pretty well, actually.

Do you remember a few years back when few in the US knew Rohrl and he and those Audis smoked the IMSA races. I'd like Gordan to do well, but you've got to watch the old rally guys.

I'm not sure what the source of this story is, but it was posted by a reliable person here
http://www.specialstage.com/forum/cg...conf=DCConfID3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm was left red-faced after rolling his Peugeot 206 WRC on a demo run for this weekend's Gran Canaria Race of Champions - and NASCAR Winston Cup hero Jeff Gordon was given the perfect view of the quadruple flip! The four-times NACSCAR champ was sitting in the co-driver's place when Gronholm lost control during the run which was filmed for US TV. The Finn got as far as the second corner, a right-left kink, when he rolled on to a bank. The Peugeot then somersaulted three more times before coming to a rest. Both Gronholm and Gordon emerged unscathed to huge cheers from the crowd. Gordon took it in good part, grinning as he walked back to the paddock, where he proceeded to retell his story to fellow NASCAR ace Jimmie Johnson. Meanwhile, Gronholm just looked embarrassed... "I was just going too fast, I guess," said the rally champ. "I hit the bank and it just rolled. Jeff was just laughing. I guess I will just have to go on from here and win it now." The car was badly damaged in the shunt, leaving Peugeot down to just two 206s for the weekend ---------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Bill |

Although I don't completely undrstand the competition format USA took first in the Nations Cup and Murcus G. won the Race of Champions.
Colin E. was fastest of all the moto group. Grodon was fourth fastest in the circuit group but they had Jimmi J. in with the rallie group. Why? Now just to track down the TV corverage. |

http://www.imp.mc/rocwebsite/_race/r...htm#nationscup is the URL to the actual results.
It didn't look like any of the US guys ended up competing in the individual event. In the event, does everyone end up racing in the same cars or what? I never really understood that part of it. It's a rallycross course with some asphalt and other parts gravel, it doesn't surprise me that the rally guys win. Jimmie Johnson was close to beating Loeb in the semis. |
