I think you can buy a spacer. It goes between the speaker and the door panel. It lifts the speaker out of the panel more. The thing is that I don't know where to buy it.. Im going to give future shop / a+b sound a call tomorrow..

Not many 6 1/2 will fit the front. The space is too shallow for most aftermarket speakers. If the spacer is too thick, the speaker will hit the door panel when turn on. It is better to put 5 1/4 in front since bass won't sacrify too much.
I had a pair of 6 1/2 MB in the front(which is even larger than the Sony 6 1/2). I had to trim the bracket a bit and add a spacer to ensure that the magnet doesn't touch the glass. So it is a better idea to just get some good 5 1/4, and it will save you quite some time

Hmm.. I see I see.. I was about to buy the 5-1/4ths but future shop looked up our car as a 6-1/2" car... Ah crap.. Now the sale is over!!.. Mabey i'll just go try to bug the guy... Thnx for the tip.. I think ill get a pair of 5-1/4s and get a 6-1/2" 1/2" spacer. Or are the 5-1/4ths wide enough in diameter to be just screwed on to the door panel without a spacer/bracket??

AcidRox, I work at Future Shop, here's a tip cause it's done everytime.

Just bitch and complain that it was on sale and stuff like that. I'm 100% sure that they'll let you have it. Most future shop managers are spineless anyway so that's all you have to do.

tarun, I used clarion 160 W 3-way speakers and the magnets just seem to fit perfect on the plastic mounts. *shrug* we'll maybe I made them fit a little. =)
