Talking Where did you get you bumper and skirt?

Hi everyone,

Many thanks in advance. I think it is more appropriate to start a new post here regarding to the bumpers . Since some of you know that my fog lamp is broken, it is the perfect time for me to get a new bumper! (mmm....broke a lamp and change the bumper.....make lots of sense :P).

So, I'd like to make a poll here to ask those lucky one where did they get their bumpers and skirts. Especially the v5 bumper with v4 lip is real cool. Your help is so benefical for the rest of us who still have the stock canadian bumpers.... Thanks a lot.

I think there were only 2 imprezas with actually side skirts... the rest of us just painted the sills... which is much cheaper, and it ALMOST has the same effect... and for people who don't know, they'll just think you got sideskirts...

I got my GENUINE Syms bumper from Syms (Nick), and I think he ordered it from Japan or something *shrug*... ask him...

While we are on the topic of asking questions...

Do any of you know how to replace foglights? Like just say if one of mine burnt out or if I got superwhites or something, how would I change it? Do I have to take it to a shop to do it for me?

You're looking for the V5 bumper right? I can get you all OEM parts for the V5 bumper for $1400 which also includes, painting, installation, tax, etc. Painting the sideskirts are $150.

inzomniak,

No need to bring it to a shop to replace fog light bulbs. The instructions on "how-to" replace foglights should be in your Impreza Drivers Manual. You have a 2000 right? If so, check page 10-50, should be in there.

Hope this helps,

Terry

Edit: Vege- You know any prices for a V4 bumper, I like the style of it better. Thanks!

Oh, ok. I thought you were talking about the bulbs only.

Well its possilbe for you to do yourself, I know they make kits that directly bolt on to the V5 bumper. If not you might need them custom brackets mounted for you, which you might need a shop to do, Sorry Im not much help.

Cool

bumper swap from Canadian to US w/ all the OEM parts u need is about $1400 installed and painted...most likely you have to pay extra for the taxes though...
i don't think you can get anymore OEM Ver IV bumper in the market coz i did check it for my friend to almost any source i could...all i found is the replica Ver IV bumper (fiberglass)...in which i dunno if they still make it anymore...
Ver V bumper w/ the Ver IV lip is just a custom work so you could get an OEM bumper w/ the fiberglass lip...
again, it's safer to go for the OEM bumper w/ re-bar instead of getting an aftermarket bumper and modify ur original re-bar...

I can't get the V4 bumper cause you would have to order from aftermarket places. Since my dad's place is an body shop, they can only get the V5 bumper since they have it in the US. Total price would be $1400 with everything included.

Cool

our shop can get almost any aftermarket kits for customers and we can work out good deals (well...based on a point that is good work => won't be cheap; cheap => won't be fast; fast => won't be good)...

Thanks guys .
Vege /5 Zigen: I guess I'd just paint my side skirt now. Would you tell me the paint shop? The bumper is a bit too expensive for me now . Is it cheaper if I just want a lamp cover (not the genuine one) instead of the big lamp?

Yeah actually it should be cheaper... but the lamp covers are expensive as well.... and people steal them... haha...

So basically it's your call...
You know you can get a bumper without lamps... but you'd have to go around searching for it...

I am thinking of getting the wing that Orbiter has... that looks good on a coupe.

Hey did any of you get your intakes done at Minnam?

u can get those fog lamp covers from the dealer...or if anyone who has bumper swap is willing to borrow/sell u one (most likely a pair though)...
i can check if we have any dented one from accident in our shop or i can even check if PiGi still keeps hers...
painting side skirts is about $130 to $150 cash...
if you have sth like bumper swap or accident w/ the paint job...it can goes as low as $70 (that's what SuperBiGG paid last time w/ a ICBC claim) to $100...
Vege's shop is Automind
the shop i work is Autosmart
you can bring your car to any body shop that do paint jobs...the only diff is the paint quality...

Inzomniak: What do you mean get intakes done at Minnam? If you mean get it installed there...I think Lexicon did. I just picked up the parts and installed it myself as I had tons of filters lying around the house..hehe...HKS, Ractive, stainless steel Apex'i wannabe, and now finally settled on the Blitz.

Thumbs up

I've asked Steve and the parts guy in Speciality. There is NO lens replacement part for our stock fog lamp. I'll need to replace the whole thing that cost me about $260 parts and labour. Therefore it is also very good if someone has a spare left fog lamp for sale (so I can save the money for the pulley ).

5 Zigen & Vege: Would you guys give me your address so I can come by and talk to you sometime this or next week? Thanks.

do u have MT or AT?

i don't think you should use cone shape filter if u have AT...it lose quite a bit of low end...yet getting an intake pipe might help for a little bit better high end...
right now i am trying a replacement filter on PiGi's RS and later on we will put an intake pipe in...even Lawrence (TS w/ syms kit) he changes the cone back to OEM air box....not sure if he uses replacement filter or stock filter...
make sure u keep the air flow sensor just in case the check engine light will comes on...
cheapest way: $70 or so for a replacement filter...
affordable way: intake pipe w/ either replacement filter or cone filter
expensive way: minnam's intake w/ fuel controller...LOL...:P
