look at the sticker on the back of the motor for the engine code...
twin cam= SOHC quad cam= DOHC... just look on the heads, and count the cams ![]() swap the heads from your Ej22 onto a EJ25? just keep the EJ25 heads on there.. Did you mom give you an ECU as well? ~Brian |

'96-99 Outback DOHC, '98 RS & Forester DOHC, '96-99 GT DOHC, '99 up RS & Forester SOHC, 'OO up RS, Legacy, and Outback SOHC.
The DOHC heads are much deeper (due to four cams) and have a bigger timing belt cover. If the 2.5 engine you have is DOHC, you need the proper ECU to make it work. That could be an issue, since your car is pre- OBDII. Otherwise you could run the 2.2 heads on the 2.5 with your stock intake manifold and ECU... ![]() |

she bout me the wiring harness yes the engine is from a forester but still havent looked to see the cam diffrence she got me a whole slew of wiring harnesses and a new dash but that has nothing to do with this thread yes it is a 2.5 rs dash from a 1999. i have a 1999 front end conversion with projector lights the 1999 flush hood not he scooped hood. i am molding the hood myself something a little diffrent cant tell anyone yet.. and yes a custom body kit.. not a 2.5 rs molded and peices cut... but the engine needs to be strong enough to hold my wall of 15 subs and amps and ect.. i have a tv and stupic stuff but i need a reliable and strong engine not fast.....

did you get a EJ25 longblock or shortblock? if its a longblock then use the heads that came with it, if not then you can swap the heads from your motor.
and we still hav'nt established if the EJ25 is a SOHC or DOHC... |
