I assume your taking about revolution competition wheels . I have the race version of the RZX line and I got them balanced no problem at a local shop. Most places I have bought wheels from come unbalanced, maybe they stated otherwise. If you are talking about the vendor that maily sells rotas then I can't help you sorry

You cannot get the assembly to balance, or are you just trying to recover your expenses for getting them balanced?

Did you buy a wheel/tire package, or just wheels? And by "unbalanced", what exactly do you mean?

If you just bought wheels, no shop pre-balances them because it would be a complete waste of time. You have to re-do it anyway once the tires are mounted. If you bought a wheel/tire package, most places pre-balance them, but I don't know if Revolutions promises that or not. But since it costs all of about $10 a wheel to have them balanced, it's usually not a big issue.

If they sold you out-of-round wheels that can't be balanced, then you definitely have a legitimate gripe. The other issue you can run into is if the wheels aren't hub-centric for a Subaru. If that's the case, it will be virtually impossible to get them mounted correctly and it will always feel like they're out of balance, even if they're balanced perfectly. In that case, you may be able to get hub-centric rings for them that will correct the problem.

In any case, they should be able to tell you all of this. But you definitely need to post a few more details before you go bashing a major vendor on the boards.

Default Thanks for the input!

Wheelset=wheels+tires, they advertise them as including mounting and balancing!
Unbalanced=front end shimmy(out of box) vs. no shimmy(after balancing at local shop).
They are rota wheels ahich are HUBCENTRIC.
They may be a major vendor but the rest of the community has been having many problems also! Just check out the vendor threads!

So they have refused to reimburse you for the expense of balancing the assemblies after advertising them as balanced? That's pretty crummy, did you talk to them before you got them balanced?

When I got mine from them, they had been "balanced" but they used stick-on wheel weights and stuck them to the rim that had a film of soap on them. (I assume from the solution to mount the tires) By the time they arrived, half the wheel weights had fallen off and were stuck to the cardboard that the shipped them in. When I e-mailed them their response was "Sorry, we cannot be responsible for shipping damage". I guess UPS puts a tire and wheel through more than spinning a three bazillion RPM and bouncing off potholes.

Angry

Yeah, I spoke to them before balancing them. They said to send copies of both receipts and they would refund the money and overnight the receipts back to me. That was 5 months ago ,about 10 phone calls and 20 e-mails ago,and its still the same sad story."I'll take care of this myself" (Rob) and a few weeks go by and nothing!!I guess what comes around goes around!SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!

I had the same problem a few months ago when I got a wheel tire package from them. I had to have them balanced at my local shop. I wrote a post about it when it happend in the vendor's forum. They actually had to take one of the tires off, rotate it 180 degrees, and remount it, it was so far off. No problems since.-James
