Default JAKE STEED has possibly ripped me off, please help

Jake Steed put an Ad in the personal for sale forum stating that he wanted to trade his VF34 turbo for a set of STI Projectors. After talking through PM's for a couple days or so, we got the details worked out and we decided we would make the swap. He assured me he shipped out his turbo on that friday, so I shipped out the STI lights on that following monday. Now over 2 weeks has gone by and there is no sign of the turbo, and he will not answer my PM's. I am going to report this to the local authorities but I wanted to see if anyone in this forum knew him before I have to take action like that. The address I sent the turbo is to Pittsburg, California. Not sure if that is in the bay area, but its worth a shot since it seems he posted here quite frequently. Please reply if you can help me out in any way possible.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Just FYI Pittsburg, CA is local - it's about 30 miles NE of Berkeley.

I responded to that thread and I was gonna do a swap as well. I sent him a PM and demanded that pics should be sent to my email.

Well guess what, he never responded. I even was gonna trade a BRAND NEW set to him. Everyone is trading used sets.

Hmmmm, what would you pic. THE NEW SET of course!

Now if you were a thief, what would you pick....The guy with the BRAND NEW set that is demanding pics in exchange for pics of his STI lights.....Or the guy with the used STI lights who cant wait a minute to send them out to him.

That is my take on the whole thing. I really wish you the best of luck man. I would start by trying to contact him. One thing I dont understand is that you didnt even reply to his thread?????

Instead of responding to the thread I just PM'd him to make things easier. Well I guess I will be contacting the local authorities next. If anyone here knows him personally that would be a huge help.

Dude what if the guy is on vacation or something?? I remember seeing quite a few posts by him, so maybe you should go through his last 20 posts or so to see if you can find anything out. I would hate for this all to be a mistake, that's all. I think you should give him another 7 to 10 days, then take action.

I doubt he is on vacation because it shows that my PM's to him have been read, but he has not replied.

Well, on a positive note.... if he has ripped you off and isn't bright enough to click "deny receipt" when reading your PMs, he may not be hard to find if you take action.

That would be classic....20 WRXs and RSs pull up in front of this guys house, drag him outside, ask him once nicely for the lights back, and if not....he's the new hood ornament for someone's car!

And video tape it, and post the vid at the top of the Classifieds!

I'm not going to post his address yet, I'm going to try and get to the bottom of this with the police first. And then I'll be sure to let you guys know where he lives, or where I sent the lights to.

I am not sure what the hell happened, but 2 days ago the post office where I shipped the lights from called me and said that the lights had been returned to sender because the recipient was unknown. I think I was the happiest person in the world finding out after about a month that I was not ripped off for $750.

Good to hear that you didn't get ripped off. Maybe there was some sort of mixup with the shipping.

Maybe you should change the name of this thread to "JAKE STEED has (NOT) possibly ripped me off, please (don't) help"

It doesn't really seem like this is his fault, and he might sue for defamation of character.

This is definitly his fault and some type of scam. I was supposed to recieve a VF34 in return, but right now i'm just glad I got the headlights back. I sent the lights to the exact address he told me to. And is it just coincidence that he would not respond to any private messages after my headlights were sent? He also told me that the turbo was shipped out over a month ago, and obviously that never happened. So he basically was lying throughout the whole ordeal. Anyway, i'm just glad I atleast got the lights back.

Thanks for all the support I got here though, its cool to know that I could count on the bay area guys in case anything ever went wrong. You guys have any problems on the east coast, just head over to the tristate forum and people there will be more then glad to help.

Isnt that probably because "Jake Steed" is a made up name? Im pretty sure thats a screen name that some porn star uses.
