Default mmm..PIAA Ion Crystals

Thought I'd put up this picture of these PIAA H3 Ion Crystals that I put on the WRX this evening.. only ~25.00 per bulb (single bulbs) from www.autoseattle.com.

I wanted yellow foglights but not too yellow, so I tried these.. I put one alongside the stock bulb, and it looked brighter.

The beam pattern ->

Are the ion crystals in the fog lights or the headlights? I'm assuming foglights because you said it's an H3 bulb. Nice how the fogs look white but shine yellow!

-What bulbs are in your headlamps???

ok, so wait, is hard to judge from teh pic. since the whole surface of the lamp is bright. But does it really look white at the lamp with a yellow output to the road?

Man I have had those is for about 2 years now. This is my fourth set. They like to blow out due to weather change or moisture. But they are a phat light. At one angle they are yellow, another green, another blue. I can't tell there on now though with my HID conversion. 25 dollars also sounds high for them. Check around when you need another set. Later

I have them too and they cast a green and eerie blue hue on everything too... hard to get used to at first.

Your digital camera is white balancing to the brightest point in the shot - your lights. Can you take some pics with "sunlight" or "outdoors" white balance?

I just upgraded my headlamps to Sylvania Silverstars. Much brighter than stock, nice and cheap too. I've been looking for new fog lights that will work well and not cause problems, ie. higher wattage, etc. I'd like to get some blue-ish tinted foglamps, but I read somewhere that blue reflects a lot and would hinder visibility. I'd rather not have yellow, just don't like the way it looks. BUT these might be an option.

Are the blue reflection problems true? I'd really like blue-ish ones but don't want to hinder my visibility. I have enough problems seeing during night rain conditions, but these silverstars helped a LOT. Thanks for any info.

Angry Stupid Stupid WRX owner!

Ok, first off, read the post subject...

How do I get to the Fog bulbs to change them out? I just replaced my Headlights with PIAA Xtreme white bulbs and I bought the matching PIAA H3s to replace my fogs, but how do I get to the bulb. I admit, I am being lazy here, I didn't look very hard or long on how to do this, but if someone would be willing to help out...

Thanks,

Dave

Just unscrew the three screws on the corners of the foglamp, twist open the grey locking cover (don't bother unplugging the harness), and push down on the wire that holds down the bulb after unplugging the ground wire (covered by a rubber cap), and unplugging the bulb + wire from the plastic thing inside the cap.

When you put it back in, make sure that the notches on the bulb line up with the hole.

It's pretty simple, but one of the screws is a pain in the ass to get back in, the lower inside one. Enjoy.

Yes, blue light reflects back off of particulate (dust/water) in the air much easier than white or yellow light. Thus, blue-tinted lights will dramatically reduce your vision in inclement weather.

BTW: this is why the sky looks blue, because that frequency is refracting off of the atmosphere, and also why sunsets are yellow-red, because those are the only frequencies that make it through that much atmosphere.
