Default impreza help

Blech...this sucks....I might not be able to afford the insurance on the wrx I want....might have to go with an N/A impreza. What's engine stuff you can do to 'em. can you put a turbo/supercharger on it? Can you give it 300 crank HP pretty easy?

Default 300 Hp easy!

Yeah, You can put 300HP at the Crank with a 2.5L.
But if you thought the insurance for a WRX was expensive, You won't be able to afford to break 180HP with the 2.5

Sorry, Speed Costs Money

I can afford $4000 for a turbo or what not, just the fact that some insurance carriers won't even cover me is why I might not be getting the WRX I want....friggin stupid insurance companies

I have to say, for a guy who had to buy an OBS in 1999 instead of an RS because of insurance, I feel your pain.

Still, I've had fun modding my OBS, and think I have it up to STOCK RS power (maybe 160 at the crank). And you can have fun modding your RS also. Plop a $4000 turbo kit on it (plus install, of course) and you have a turbo RS for about the same price as a WRX. Just don't go over 5psi LOL!

Buy an earlier Impreza and make it a WRX... Why buy a 2.5 based car that is not set up for forced induction and blow the motor up? The lower ends are weak even under high HP N/A applications, would highly recommend NOT turbo charging a 2.5. Unless you have about $8k to build the motor properly before the turbo goes on ($4k + labor)...

You can get an early Impreza and drop in a JDM EJ20, turbo tranny, and make yourself a WRX. You can have alot more car for less $$$.

Have 6 of them in stock...

Well, but the guy might want a new car, you know, with a new car smell and warranty and all. Of course, a turbo kit will void warranty.

I say, if you want an Impreza, get the 25RS. You can get it up to 200bhp pretty easy. 300 will be pretty hard = $$$.

Buy a $5000 older Impreza L and swap in a WRX engine. Thats the cheapest way.
