rear window defrost problem?

can somebody tell me if the rear defroster works slow?
i havent noticed this before but just recently i noticed that it takes quite a long time for the rear window to defrost even the slightest fog. My side mirrors defrost fast but not the rear.
anybody experience this?

Yeah, I have the same thing. Make sure you clean your rear windows often (once every week or 2) and also make sure the electrical contacts on the defroster are still good. (ie. just move them around a bit to ensure they are not getting corroded).

are you talking about the rear winsheild or the rear passenger windows?

Mine is pretty slow too, but after a while, you get used to it I probably wouldn't have remembered if you haven't reminded me of this

I'm PERFECTLY content sitting here with my US spec WRX with UNHEATED side mirrors - bah - probably wouldn't have even gotten them if they were an option (not like they ever will be or anything....)

What a stupid feature to put on a car, anyway! Like the side mirrors are at all important?! Bah. I scoff at your heated side mirrors.

And Canada. What's up with that?! I mean, c'mon?! What's the deal- your country isn't even cool enough to be a world dominating country that sticks its nose into every possible facet of foreign affairs, and then wonders why the rest of the world wants to destroy it?! You guys can't even make fun of the leader of your country cause yours actually has a clue!!

if you look at the middle left and right of the rear window, you will notice little black wires. This is how the defrost gets its power (think of a toaster). Be VERY CAREFUL to not break off the lead as it is essentially soldered on to the glass.. just wiggle it a bit and make sure its getting a good contact.

dont hate! i know you're just jelous of our mirrors, i guess only "cool" people get the privilegde of having them.

Being an American, I resent that Yeah, David, I seem to have the same problem. My left mirror defogs in 10 seconds while the right mirror takes forever. To get the frost off the rear window, I just drive away and brake so the water moves down

thanks derek, hmm... i could have sworn when i first got the car, the rear defrosted so quickly.
