I am a Sys Admin for an insurance brokerage with offices in SF, Oakland, Petaluma, and Redwood City called ABD Insurance. They are one of the top two or three insurance brokerages on the west coast.

Basically what they do is offer insurance from all the big carriers (farmers, statefarm, allstate, AIG, republic, travelers, progressive, safeco, etc.) They find the best deal for you. They might be able to get a better deal for you since they have no loyalty to any one company.

Give them a call, see if they can quote you a policy.

1-650-839-6000 (Redwood City)

Ask for Lee Neidle in the Personal Lines Department for new accounts.

Tell him Ryan Horikoshi referred you. he'l hook you up as best he can.

Good luck!

Where exactly is Novato? Maybe I should have you call the North Bay Office?

Try http://www.esurance.com .

Just punch in all your info on their website and they'll give you an instant quote, no agent calling to harass you! I found them to be $200 cheaper a year than my old carrier, Mercury Ins.

A.M. Best Rating: A
S&P Rating: A
Parent Company: White Mountain Insurance Group - based in the states.

Not that anyone cares, but in case you did...

A.M. Best and S&P rates insurance companies on their financial strength. You gotta make sure that the company you sign up with has the cash to pay out claims.

Secondly, find out where the company is based. If it's based off shores, then it's not regulated by our state laws. For example, if you just paid your 6 month premiums and the company decided to go out of business, the state won't reimburse you for the remainder for your premium. Your just out of luck on that one. But if the company's based in the States, then some government institution will reimburse you when the company can't.

I know it's in the Bay Area. But where in the Bay Area?

I thought of the Shane Co. commercials, too when I looked at his location!

They beat EVERYONE I called by a large margin, and even beat my old carrier, Nationwide, that I was with for 8 years with no accidents or claims. The only catch is you have to have CA. "good driver" status before they'll accept your application.

Since you said "cheap" .. the cheapest I found is The General. I currently use the General. Only problem is there is not office in the bay area, you will need to fill out the paper work at mail box etc.

Their rate bets Eastwood Ins, it bets AIS, .. and also, all brokage insurance company are the same. They pick from the same insurance company group. For example, I used to have AIS and they quote me $9XX for insurance from Mercury Ins. I then called Eastwood, they quote me the same $9XX from Mercury Ins. They make their money from brokage fee.

Also, warning .. Fu#k AIS. When I called them, they quoted me $6XX for one year coverage. So I changed to AIS from my more expensive insurance company. After I paid all the fees, I got another bill a month later. It was for another $300. I was like ***. I called and bitched/complained .. and their reason for my higher bill was, the insurance up their rate. I was like ***, it was in a one month period, no accident, no ticket, no anything. So watch out. They might quote you a cheap rate to change and screw you with a higher bill afterwards.
