WRX and old RS have the same caliper (with a different mounting bracket since the WRX uses a larger disc.) I'm pretty sure RS/WRX front brakes can be put on a TS. If you run WRX brakes, you need so use 16" or larger wheels.

What he said. You can't use your stock 15"s anymore.

Personally, as a fellow TS owner, I'll just upgrade my fronts to RS calipers and get some good Rotors from EBC, Brembo OEM replacement rotors or DBA rotors with some good pads, and I get to keep my 15" stockers and steelies for winter use. When you have enough spare change in the future, go do the rear disk mod with 2000+ legacy rear disks and a brake proportioning valve.

Cheers;
Peter

I am just about to do that mod, just picked up the braided stainless steal brake lines. Im going to put vented turbo legacy rotors and calipers on front and rear. subaru says this set up will out perform RS and WRX brakes, lets hope so. bye bye spongy brakes

Go with RS calipers. MY2001 or earlier. IT's the same caliper that the WRX uses and you get a better selection of pads. As for the Legacy front calipers, yes it would fit as well, I just don't know if they are the same or not.

Hey guys, for changing the rear drums to disc, is there a special bracket required to mount the caliper or is it a straight bolt on?

I believe you need the knuckles and hubs from a car with discs. It's not that easy in terms of parts...

there is a section in this board that deals specifically with this stuff. i recall awhile back someone asking the exact same question, and there was a detailed step by step response from someone else.

maybe http://www.scoobymods.com might have something to help u?

Thanks Bruno, I found a great link regarding this conversion. Probably a year or two until the rear pads where out, then I'll consider it.

Sounds like fun!

Probably, but it might depend which Legacy. I know tora's 2002 Legacy Brighton has 1pot fronts, which are probably the same as TS brakes anyhow.

I *think* the Legacy GT/Outback use the same 2pot fronts as the new RS/TS do, which are a bit different from the old RS and WRX. I imagine those would still bolt up but I'm just guessing. They also suffer from poor pad selection. As youthanasia said, you really are best of with GC8 RS calipers.
