Why is No spoiler better?

To be honest, this is just a guess, but I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that most spoilers won't really provide much downforce until speeds get really high . . . so removing the spoiler might have some aerodynamic benefit at less-than-racetrack speeds. Other than that, I don't know.

I think he was referring to the removed spoiler as a "sleeper" improvement :-)

Without the spoiler the WRX looks pretty sheepish. I think that's what he meant. I think the stock looking WRX surprised the RSX owner...

It is pretty much the norm up here in Misawa alot of the locals and guys on base remove the wing I think most of them just like the look of it with out it.

Depends on the color in my opinion... blue ones need spoilers, but white looks damn good without one...

Yes, that's correct. I'm the one who posted that thread. Maybe it indeed helps by reducing 5 lbs

Do you know how they plug up the holes left when spoiler is removed? There are 7 holes to be plugged.

I bought my WRX w/o a wing and intend on keeping it like that, i like the creases that are on the trunklid + I am like the only one in my area to not have a wing on my car so it stands out.

Yeah, when you park your car in a group of WRXs with wings. Other people might even think you have the 2.5 engine. That's where the sleeper look comes in

Im not saying that, its just that when I go to a meet im practically the only person there w/o a wing and people tend to notice that and a BTW they never made a New impreza 2.5RS in WR Blue

Unless you're Schumacher in the WRX, the wing will have so little effect on the car you won't feel it. Sure it may be worth the 0.00000001 of a second by removing it but give me a break. Until you're road-racing at the club or professional level, I'd leave it alone.

man you guys got it all wrong! the spoiler is there to add more weight behind the rear axle, make the weight balance a smidgen closer to a true 50/50!

i have one on my car, so thats my excuse, im sticking to it!
