Default Hesitation and rough idle

My WRX has about 13K miles and is bone stock. It idles very rough...almost feels like it is "camming" like a big meaty V8 does. It also hesitates a lot on acceleration...in every gear at just about every RPM. It is definitely not tubro lag, but more of a surge and delay of power throughout the RPM band. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what may be causing this? I always run 93 octane gas as well.

Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak someplace. Check all the hoses going to the intake, manifold and turbo to see if any are loose or have come off. If you can't find anything yourself let the dealer have a look, what you describe is not normal.

Default That could be earthing related too

Check the link out and look under DIY for Earthing stuff - it'll show a JDM car, but it is all the same layout.

For a few bucks it can't hurt - unless you forget to take off the plus lead when working on it, of course

I have similar acceleration hesitations. I thought it might be what the grounding mod fixes, (I have yet to do it), but now I'm not sure.

Why would it be a "vaccume" leak? It happens even under boost. If it is a leak, could it be from where I tapped in the boost guage? I tapped into the blow off valve on the fwd side of the intercooler.

What does your boost guage say at idle? -18 inches or so of vacumn? It should (roughly -10 psi)... if it doesn't, you have a vacumn leak.

my wrx is sometimes the same as yours. when i am at idle, my boost gauge is around 19 in. but it wavers up and down sometimes(between 18.5 and 19.5). sometimes it is rock solid. anyone know what that means. of course when the cooling fans turn on, it jumps around a bit, but then levels off. i read the page talking about chakcing for vaccuum leaks, sticky valves, bad rings, etc. but it just said if the needle moves, well, how much movement is ok. also, my car is stock and no boost control, so i have reason to think my valves are sticky, leaking, or whatever. it has done this since 10K, now it has 25K and is the same.
