Default Sighting Of A Lifetime!!!

"I was driving past the Santa Cruz Subaru Center and I couldn't believe my eyes! There was like 20 or so Subarus, (brand new even!) just sitting there. I mean, WOW. Forget these little sightings where some guy sees one Subaru on the road. I saw like 20 at once. Gosh." What's the deal with people fliping out when they spot a slightly modified Subaru on the street? Don't get me wrong, I like Subarus as much as the next guy but MAN! Calm down people, Subarus are pretty common. I would understand if someone saw an Italian. What if this was the Chevy club. There would be like 50,000 or so sightings a day! Or what if it was the Honda club?
"I was on 280N and to my surprise there was a brand new, 4 door, white Civic! What a lucky sighting! I got up next to her and tryed flaling my arms wildly and screeming at her! Do you think she saw me!? If this was you please respond, I thought you were cute."

what's so bad about posting sightings anyway?

it's not that we post here because we are excited about seeing a subaru. It's that we are curious if the one we saw was a friend from these forums.

Sightings, and Meets

Youpers: Stick some I-club stickers on your car and THEN you will get sightings! (nobody spots legacies for some reason unless they are upper-modded)

His is ubber-modded. I saw it before a drive to santa cruz a month ago. In fact it's harder to notice than a stock legacy, because you have to be familiar with the b4 to recognize it. Course, an I-club sticker in the window wouldn't hurt.

i think GC8 drivers are more likely to respond other's acknowledgement, so wave at the GC8 drivers and they will usually respond with a wave, thumbs up, or a nod. but some wrx drivers are just clueless..........

I would wave at more Impreza owners... but lately they have all been passing me on the highway at about 90 mph. Slow down chumps!

... We saw about a hundred at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix just as the WRX was released. All lined up.

With all due respect and deference to the WRX I must admit that they're about as rare as McDonalds restaurants. I'm with Cal on this one, in that I'm more likely to notice a GC8 and give them a wave or nod then I am a WRX... Only on RARE occasions have WRX even noticed that they're in the proximity of another Subaru when I'm passing them

I stopped waving at WRX's...90% of the time they don't react. Every GC8 I see though gets a wave...and 90% of them react (80% react positively, some try to give me a race.).

GC8 owners unite!

Wait...I've been driving a Dodge Dakota...and had a Chevy pickup try to race me while commuting through Walnut Creek. Takes all kinds I suppose.

No harm guys, you have to admit, it was pretty funny seeing some of you get so offended. I don't care if there are sightings posted here. It's not that big of a deal to me. Really, if I don't like them I don't have to read them, right? I was just trying to get a rise out of some of the guys posting a new sighting every other day. LOL

i agree with calvin on this. when the WRX first came out, i wave and give them thumbs up, but after i found out that the owner is more confused at what's going on than me, so i just stop. but giving a thumbs up or wave to GC8 owners seems a little different. most of the time they give you a thumbs back too. no offense to WRX owners on this board. i would only post sightings of imprezas if they are modify.

Funny, Since the introduction of the WRX, I have to say there have been way more sightings. The thing is, they don't seem to care. I wave and they drive by with thier noses in the air. Or they drive by looking at you like you are a nut or something. Not all but most. Every GC8 sighting I have ever had has resulted in a wave or nod of the head. Just think, in 3 years or so ther will be 50 to 60,000 WRX's alone. Not counting the RS's and GC8 RS's.

good. maybe then we can just go to any junkyard we want and pick up an EJ20 for around 1500 and throw it in a 93L which only costs 1500 as well.

woot!

LOL I do have a sighting of red WRX in my garage every night as well

Indeed there are many many Subarus around if we start waving to every one we will be doing that 50 times a day.

Imprezas have been around since early 90s...

When I see an RS I look at it but I am not going out of my way to wave madly to say hi... I am a little more prone to say hi to another WRX though (after all a WRX is a WRX )

Cheers

T.

I was really taken and now days I look twice before waving to a soccer mom driving Outback

cheers

T.

I noticed that women rarely wave back, whereas the guys usually do wave, maybe its because women are more concentrated on driving than guys? I know i always look all over to see if there are any nice cars around me (and to look for the cops, they scare the hell out of me) but lately everyone has stopped waving......they don't even look *sniff*

What's wrong youpers - your sick-ass slammed-out B4 Blitzen style Legy aint getting the appreciation it deserves?

I think all the sighting stuff is just from all the almost-first-on-the-block(heads) like me who got a cool car that's rare - or was - and it's fun waving at each other b/c we all are still high on that new car smell. To support my point - I have yet to get a wave back from a 2.5 rs '02 or earlier - they don't even care, weird.

I figure the whole sighting thing will go down as WRX's get more common, and will be limited to sighting of the ones that are highly modified (as it should be). But hey, give us a break - we're havin' fun with our new toys - and our new "community" which is a big plus over other makes. I never got waved at in my bimmer by anything other than one finger!

Casey
