Question HELP! Wastegate or BOV dumping above 10psi

I just had the equivalent (Up-pipe, Unichip, MRT turbo-back, VF30, STi injectors, etc) of a Vishnu Stage 2 installed and the Stage 2 map is loaded. Initially I saw 2 "overboost" CEL's so I'm keeping out of full boost until I see Shiv Thursday. But now whenever I go over 10 psi I hear a load dump from either the BOV or wastegate. I'm pretty sure it's the wastegate. I reset the ECU but it's still doing it. Anybody else experienced this? Any ideas?

Thanks, Steve

are u watching ur boost gauge when u hear the dump? does it shoot down or just go down slowly? does it go to vaccum or just to 0???
it sounds like somethign could be wrong with ur solenoid
but its just a guess

I'll watch it next time I drive it (this evening) and see. I'm pretty sure it dropped immediately. With that much air it must be sudden. I checked the hose feeding the solenoid and it looks OK.

Thanks for the reply.

Does the car feel like it's hitting a rev limiter or fuel cut? You may have a bad boost gauge or bad seal, you may be hitting a lot higher boost than you think. When you overboost the ECU hit's a fuel cut and the BOV releases pressure. The only other thing I would be able to think of it maybe you have a bad manifold pressure sensor.... since that's what the ECU depends on to tell it what kind of boost your putting.

I've got a fairly new Omori boost guage and am pretty sure it's not bad - nor is its connection. I'm sure it's not overboosting as I feel it just beginning to build some boost when it happens whereas the CEL's were coming on at full boost.

This is disheartening as I only have 80 miles on the VF30

Oh! I thought when you were hitting 10psi you were getting overboost CEL's.

Hm...

Default Solved!

Thanks for the feedback. The intercooler hose clamp came loose. So I re-installed it and unscrewed the MBC a half turn and all is well. No, all is very well (and faster than snot!).
